[QUOTE=VizJedi;1179294]Aceinspp,

This place looks great! We go somewhere along the gulf coast on the years we don't go to Disney. Camping on the Gulf is getting VERY crowded and expensive. Coast Line looks great.

How much is there to do in the area? We like to be 'tourists' when we are on vacation.

Depends how long you will be there. We like doing things also but not for all day. You can visit the 4 light houses and museums near buy. Go to St George Island to visit the beach nice. Port St Joe has a nice down town lots of variety shops, one of the light houses there, and good restaurants. Day trip trip Panama city. If ya like to fish can do right off there dock. Lots of varieties to be caught. We enjoyed because not so hectic layed back. They have a good Sam rate and also Passport of America rate. Later RJD

There the same weekend, Thursday thru Sunday. Did you go to the Lodge for the mushroom or the paranormal event that weekend?

Have you camped on the north end where you call walk up hill a few feet and be in the church burial plots?

We missed the paranormal thing. Darn. We did go hiking on Sunday and went into the lodge. Saw all the tables for the mushroom festival. I'm not a mushroom fan, so it didn't do much for me.
I have walked through the cemetery before, but never camped in the sites next to it. Those are pretty short and on a slope. My old 5er would barely fit. The new one at 42 ft, definitely wouldn't.

Quick over night trip to Illini State Park in Marsailles Illinois with the new camper to makes sure everything works. The only thing we found so far is the tv remote volume up and volume down turn on/off the fireplace. Hopefully our dealer can straighten it out.

There's a good mix of sites. Some better than others. But don't let the name fool you, check the distance to Gettysburg and decide if it works for you. Location to things is usually my biggest issue with Thousand Trails parks.

I see what you mean. Just mapped it. Looks like 30 mins roughly to Gettysburg. Anyway I am always looking for new places regardless since I'm from pa. Anything interesting around there to do or just a place to crash?

Mostly a place to crash. This is our hometown (sorta). We are mostly here for visiting family and are going to do some roadschool field trips/unit on Gettsyburg.

I do think there are a couple of factory tours in the area (Utz chips, Harley Davidson about a 1/2-hour away). I'm honestly not sure what else (sad that I grew up near here!).
