Tried a Harvest Host, we wanted to stop by Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream factory in Waterbury VT. The DW found a Harvest Host just up the road so we gave it a try. The place is Cold Hollow Cider Mill. They have a big store that sells all things cider and many other goodies. They have a quick tour of how they make the cider. The camping area is around back and there is enough room for a bunch or RV’s. No hookups. You are on fairly level grass next to their Solar Panel Farm that was interesting, (to me), to get a close look at. We ate their fresh cider donuts and bought a few gift items and got a good night of sleep.

Went to Ben and Jerry’s Factory, did the tour, got the free sample of Vanilla and stood in line for quite a while to get a full size dose of the chunky Ice Cream that is saving the world, one scoop at a time. If you are passing that way, it was a nice easy comfortable overnight stop.

This was my campsite at Cooper Lake State Park on an unusually cool weekend in August. I had not planned on going camping, but the temperatures dropped to really nice levels, so I hitched up and went.

Bunker Lake Campground is part of Anoka County Parks, this is about six miles from our home so we make it there ... not as often as we should ...

Is it near Andover? We have family there and would be more convenient to use than the driveway when we come up from Missouri. Any hookups?

Absolutely YES it is actually IN Andover ... they have primitive, as well as 30 and 50 amp electric hook ups. Water at all hook-up sites, there are also nice bath houses. There are back-in and drive-thru sites, they cater to everyone from tents through the big diesel pushers. There is a single dump station at the entrance, $12 for non-campers or as much as you need included with camping.

Anoka County has a "darn" nice online reservation system, you can see which sites are available, even see a thumbnail image of each camp site, and make pre-paid reservations on-line.

There is a $5/day park fee, or $25 for 13-month permit (they punch it to end of same month you purchase it in, next year.) Works at ALL Anoka county parks, also in all Carver and Washington country parks.

Nothing special about the campground but the park, lodge and cabins are beautiful.

I think a winter weekend here at the lodge or cabins would be better.

Lake Tawakoni just east of Dallas, TX. Just a couple hours away. Wanted to get out for a night and wife had stuff going on, so just me and my 6 year old boy. Doing all the camper stuff and six year old stuff alone is exhausting. But, of course fun.





Nice campground except the ants were out of control. Lots and spray and bates when I put the trailer back on storage.
