Just back from a double ...this one was the end of 2018 ...celebrating the New Year at Koreshan SP in Estero, FL over some great prime rib on the grill (DH has got that down) & kayaking with friends on New Years Day. Interesting history here from huge machine shop, electricity production & bake shop around 1900... all being put back together by some great volunteers that really give back to the park system.

Camped over New Year's at Deception Pass State Park North of Seattle, and it was awesome. We got a rare reprieve from the typically soggy pnw winters!

We did turtle and planned on dry camping w/no water if need be. We brought plenty of fresh water (aside from what was in the tank) and planned on eating out for most of our meals - so we knew we wouldn't have many dishes to wash.

We hung a light bulb in the rear compartment where the water pump, etc. are - and that did really well. We had the tank heaters on, but didn't do as great a job of keeping the connection from the fresh water tank to the supply lines thawed - so that's something we'll work on for next time. We used a hair dryer to thaw the line one day - and that kept the lines open long enough for us both to take showers. :-)

I think the temps got down to the low single digits overnight while we were there, and they stayed there for most of the night, most nights. We really wanted to try this out before we invested much more in cold weather gear (like heated hoses or heat tape) - and we really enjoyed it, so am sure we'll do more of it! For us, the biggest concern was making sure we had enough flexibility in our schedule so that we could stay an extra day if the weather was bad - we didn't want to pull the trailer on snowy roads - especially not over the mountain passes!

It was beautiful. I have 100 pics i could post, some of the pines in the pine forest are 6 foot around and bigger. My wife, daughter and I enjoyed every second of it. I highly recommend to anyone to take a trip up there. We were there the last week it was open in October. Which is the 3rd week in October. It was quite. We stayed from a Sunday to a Sunday.

Cedar Key RV Resort (FL)

Here is a photo of our trip to Cedar Key, FL in January. Nice campground with large sites, nice staff, and great neighbors. We took the trip with some friends, who had the site next to us.

This is becoming an annual trip for us to the Old Florida area. Not a lot of touristy stuff here.

We have great memories of Hartwick Pines. We used to stay there when the old campground was there and it was beautiful. The new CG with full hookups is great too! Have taken many hikes thru the old growth and we used to CC ski on the groomed trails they provide. I see you're from New Baltimore and we were just there. We are in the Kalamazoo area. Happy Camping my friend!
