Thanks... Iedas needed

Thanks to all of the M&M Lites for posting greetings. Here are a few thoughts I have that MAY start some discussion...

Nancy and I are just about as new as possible to M Lites. We are waiting for our first Lite to be delivered. Needless to say we are excited, maybe I am more excited than Nancy, and value any information we can hear about your M Lite experiences.

A little about you...
A little about us... Nancy still is working and looking to retire at the end of June. I am a retired "shop" teacher. After 35 years of teaching, SHOP morphed into Technology Education. We live in West Chester PA just west of Phila. We are waiting on a 2015 Mini Lite 2503S and tow with a Chevy 3500 Van. We are planning on traveling with our new M Lite and are looking at the north east for this summer. Nancy wants to hike up Mt Washington NH. It looks like there are a lot of nice campgrounds in that area.
We have been boaters for many years so land cruising will be interesting to say the least.

Topic questions:
In your M Lite travel...
Do you travel with bikes? Where do you store them? Do you use a rack?
Have you made any modifications to your M Lite?
IF you have a slide does it function alright?
If you camp at one place where are you located?
If you use your M Lite to travel where is your favorite spot... so far?

Nancy has "interior" questions...
What sheets do you use? Camping world short queens?
Here is one, where do you put your trash can?
Have you added any towel racks?
Any tricks for storing things in cabinets during travel?

Well there are a few thoughts to start things off... What is on your mind?

Skip and Nancy Best

Bests, I'm too slow of a typist to answer all questions but I'll take a stab at some of them.

--bikes: I bought a "Bike Bunk" from Camping World and store the bikes over the propane tanks on the front yoke. You cannot mount a bike rack on the weak back bumper. You can search this issue in this forum. There has been a lot of discussion on the weakness of the bumpers. I had to have the cross bar on the Bike Bunk cut to take out about 4" and then welded back together to keep the cross bar close to the front of the Mini Lite so I could get 2 bikes on and not run into the back of the tow vehicle.

--sheets: I use regular queen sheets and just tuck the excess under the mattress. Cheaper that way.

--trash can: I have a plastic trash container with a top that I store along the side of the bed. I put velcro on the bottom and on the floor to hold it in place and it doesn't fall over.

--mattress: many have found the mattress uncomfortable all by it self. We purchased and use a Perfect Harmony Mattress Topper from Camping World for a much more comfortable mattress.

--carry extra fuses. Know where the fuse for the slide out is-outside under the front of the camper behind the battery (at least in my 2012 unit).

--slide works fine. just treat the seals once in awhile.

--towel racks: I put towel racks on the inside bathroom door and a towel shelf (Target) over the toilet. You have a much larger bathroom so you have more space than I do.

--mods: Winegard Wingman attachment to the TV antenna
Winegard Sensar signal meter
grab bar across screen door

This forum and YouTube are the 2 best places to find answers to your questions. We do most of our camping in state parks.

Congratulations on your new TT.

Welcome Skipbest, and thanks for starting this thread. We are about 40 or so minutes west of you.

I think Glacier did a good job of answering your questions. As far as bikes I put the kids bikes in the back of my Envoy and unfortunately my bike goes inside the camper wedged in between the dinette and the sink cabinets. I don't always take my bike so it isn't too bad. We are looking to upgrade to a truck this spring to make bike hauling much better.

Mods: battery shut off switch, same mattress as Glacier, shelves in the front cabinets, black tank flush, oxygenics shower head.

Favorite local spot is Lake in Wood in Narvon, PA (near maple grove raceway). We start and end our camping season there every year.

In your M Lite travel...
Do you travel with bikes? Where do you store them? Do you use a rack?

Because of the weak bumper issue, we haul in the back of the truck. (I have concerns about tongue weight with two full propane tanks, two batteries, and two bikes and a bike rack.)
Have you made any modifications to your M Lite?

We did the antenna booster mod, and the screen door bar. Added a second battery and an AC inverter, added an outdoor smart TV, made mods to the shower, added a WIFI system and Raspberry Pie media server, and we are working on a review camera system for spring. We added a mattress topper and use regular queen sheets, and our small trash can fits in a lower cabinet.
IF you have a slide does it function alright? Slide works okay. We treat seal with silicone during winterizing.
If you camp at one place where are you located?
If you use your M Lite to travel where is your favorite spot... so far?
We prefer state parks. We enjoyed both Johnson Shutin in Missouri and St. George Island in Florida.

Sorry about that Jhocst, I was trying to be brief, ended up being unclear.

Winegard Wingman and a Winegard Sensar signal meter

Is the wingman worth it? I have seen it, but have not heard results. Does it fold down nice. Meter sounds nice for dialing in signal

Thanks

We are not in an area with a lot of reception for antenna. Any edge helps

jhochst, yes the Wingman improves your reception. It's very easy to install, just pops in. It lays down with the rest of the antenna and doesn't take up any more room. The meter makes it a lot easier to zero in where your strongest signal is coming from.

Having said that, I just purchased a Winegard Rayzar Air Retrofit antenna from Camping World. It is a flat paddle like thing and receives reception on 2 sides so from 2 directions. I'll install it first thing this spring. I am hoping for even better reception. It goes on the existing antenna mast. We'll see.
