We are in the same boat. The city has water rations for outside watering. Hard to keep a good looking yard, but perfect excuse not to work in the yard and take the trailer out camping.

"rwehba" , where in west Texas are you located?

At the very top of the page, there are dark green "tabs" and right under it is a "directory tree" of forums that contain the posts of this thread.

This one says: forest river forums> Forest River Community Forums> Forest River Lifestyle> My Lawn Looks Terrible

Click on forest river forums to see the top directory of forums for the most appropriate for your question; then click on that forum and a list of threads will appear. You will also see a "New Thread" button where REPLY is here.

I will be retired next year by may and I can guarantee my yard will not change much, I hate doing yard work. Might even look worse because I don't plan on being home very much. Home is going to be a place to store stuff that can't fit in the trailer. Downsizing next year and kicking my wife's kid out, time for him to get some responsibility for himself.

We are surrounded by woods, my lawn is shade all the time it has been turning to moss and now almost all of it is moss at first wasn't sure about it, but, now I love it. Almost no grass cutting and is always green. Great when going rving.

Yesterday I saw a house where they put astro turf down in all the huge flower beds, then set pots of flowers on top of it. Yeah! No weeding!

I'm thinkin'......why can't we do the entire yard like that???

The ultimate "green" option....no watering, no harmful-to-mother-earth chemicals, etc.

DH would LOVE it also! He'd have the biggest putting green around here.

(can't seem to keep grass growing in the back yard....weird chunks of grass seem to disappear simultaneously with him going out to the shop to do some tweaking on his sticks)

wish I had your yard even when my grass is brown during summer I have to mow because our trees sprout little trees all over the yard like weeds.

Turn the yard into a rock garden.

I LOVE "zen garden" yards!

Unfortunately they don't work well 'round here. Water table is way too high, rainfall is never-ending and those rocks would sink out of sight.

And...Fred would have sore paws from trying to dig a hole to find "cool dirt".

Ah, I dislike hole diggers because they never backfill.

My ideal yard would be asphalt painted a nice kelly green.

If I could pave the whole 2 acres I could trade my lawn tractor for a go-cart!
