My smoke alarm doesn't like bacon
Even with vents and windows open and stove vent fan on I have to remove the battery when I cook bacon!!!

Ours dosen't like almost anything fried. When we remember, just take the batteries out when cooking fired foods.

Who or what don't like bacon? That's un-American.

Last winter we had a diesel next door that set ours off. The old single guy was so nice we didn't complain. We just closed all the windows on that side of the RV in the morning before he left to work.

Our smoke detector does not like bacon either, especially near the end of the frying. We have a towel ready to fan that puppy if it goes off.

We partially precook our bacon in the oven before leaving home and freeze it. Then we just take what we need out of the freezer bag and microwave for 30-60 seconds.

You can also put the smoke detector in the freezer when you cook the bacon

The only time I'll buy the pre-cooked bacon is when we're camping.
Never thought about the smoke alarm being an issue. I just don't want bacon grease inside the RV.
I don't like frying anything inside, not even eggs. Poached eggs is a wonderful option while camping.

My smoke alarm has only gone off twice due to over cooking in the microwave and oven.
When I cook bacon on the stove I turn on the fantastic fan on low along with opening a window and usually the door. Now I lose the picture on the TV set with the stove fan on. Not usually a big problem but somehow it seems I get in the mood to cook at the end of a show or movie.

Why are you cooking bacon inside?
It must be cooked outside so others may enjoy the aroma, and you do not need to clean grease splatter off of the whole area.

We had pre-cooked bacon for breakfast this morning, with pancakes, maple syrup, etc.
The bacon was actually very good! Just zap it in the microwave (covered with a paper towel of course) for 30 seconds and it's nice and crispy.
(and yep, we're "glamping" in the RV for 4 days)
I have yet to use the stove inside the RV and may not ever. Most meals are cooked outside on the grill. Baked potatoes, etc. are cooked in the microwave.

We had the same problem when cooking bacon or toast. I read on another forum that someone uses the disposable bowl covers (I think they are made by Glad...they have an elastic band and a Saran Wrap type material) to put over their smoke detectors when cooking. Slip it on and then pull it off when done. I personally haven't bought any yet because I keep forgetting but remembered reading that so decided to try what I had on hand last trip...I used a quart size zip lock bag. It fit perfectly over the smoke detector and I took it down when I was done. Just be sure to cover all of the detector to the very top by ceiling or it will still go off. To me this is simpler than removing batteries. I still plan to buy the bowl covers as I believe they would be even easier to put on/take off as well as keep in place but I have to remember them at the darn store first. Lol. I wish manufacturers would not place those things so close to the kitchen area because they seem super sensitive to everything cooking on top of the stove or anything in a toaster and that darn smoke detector makes me jump every time it goes off.

Tried running the vent fan, opening windows and running the stove vent fan. Still had problems with the s/d waking the neighbor hood and setting off our puppy. Now we just set a small fan on the table directed towards the ceiling. No more problems.

I fry without a battery
The better way is to use parchment paper on a foil tray and put the bacon in the oven.

We cover our alarm with a plastic shower cap when cooking. Works well and the wife stays nice and warm on those cold mornings.

Twist, turn, pull and remove battery works best for us. When done cooking replace. Just hate it when it goes off.

Hummm I cook mine in a frying pan on the grill outside so that others may enjoy.
Did make some toast inside for the first time, no issues with smokie.
