NC Campgrounds ?

Finally getting settled after moving from Southern CA to Denver, NC (Charlotte Area) With relocating for a job opportunity and buying and getting settled in a new house here in NC it hasn't left much time for any camping trips....Sad to say my last trip was back in June 2016 at Pismo Beach, CA now the wife and our two Pomeranians are going to attempt to plan a short local trip to get back in the swing of things....Not knowing much about the Charlotte area I'm looking for some campgrounds to try out any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated...I'd like to stay in about a 100 mile radius.

Plus I would also like to Thank Old Coot for letting me store my trailer at his house during this major transition in my life my Father and I pulled it out from CA to his house back in November. It really made me have one less thing to worry about after arriving here in NC.....I picked up my TT from his house two weeks...Thanks again Old Coot I will never forget how gracious you and your wife have been to me.

Thumbs up NC Campgrounds

Zooland Campground is nice , its close to the NC zoo and its quite. It's also close to the Uwharrie Mtns and Badin Lake ( lots of hiking, boating and fishing ) .
Cross Winds in Linwood Nc ( between Salisbury and Lexington off of HWY 85) is a great place . Very quite , nice big spots and there's a Tiger rescue in Rockwell called Tiger World about 15-20 minutes . Awesome place or in Spencer there's the Train museum too.

Zooland and Crosswinds are both nice. What are you looking for in a campground? Do you want state parks, rv. resorts, etc? What kind of amenities? Do you want mountains, lakes, beaches etc? Lots of wonderful campgrounds around. Check out CampgroundGallery.com it was started by a fellow North Carolinian.

Hyco lake, Jordan lake and kerr lake are all really nice. tanglewood park is also nice. four paws animal kingdom is an adult only CG that iis all about the dogs. Also check out Dan Nicholas park. if you want to come up towards Durham there is Jones station rv park. Another great place is Mayberry campground in mount airy near pilot mountain. Lots to do and see around north Carolina. Also keep an eye on the rally section here or on the FROG website for local rallies. OC joined us for the rally at Mayberry campground last year. Great guy.

We have stayed at Morrow Mountain a couple of times. That would be a fairly close camp spot for you... just past Albemarle. Lots to do there; hiking, swimming and fishing without leaving the campground. There is a beautiful winery about 5-10 miles out the gate.

Haven't camped there yet but am looking at the campsites in the Uwharrie National Forest on the other side of the Pee Dee River. They have some off road trails I'd like to get the family onto.

We really enjoy James Island County Park outside Charleston. Nice park, great bike trails, close to beach and close to downtown Charleston.. Check it out.. https://www.ccprc.com/1434/Campground

There are many great NC State park campgrounds.... One of our several favorites is tanglewood park. Enjoy North Carolina... it has a lot to offer all campers!
