Pics from our 3-week, 5,700-mile road trip.

I dumped like 650 photos onto Flickr from the trip we just completed. Album is here...

https://www.flickr.com/photos/hoganw...57698883062134

We saw...
  • Garden of the Gods
  • Cheyenne Mountain Zoo
  • Cave of the Winds
  • Pikes Peak
  • Grand Canyon
  • Bryce Canyon
  • Great Salt Lake
  • Yellowstone
  • Grand Tetons
  • Crazy Horse
  • Mount Rushmore
  • Devil's Tower

And all the roads and scenery between them and home here in Illinois. It was pretty amazing! I especially loved the scenery along US-212 over Beartooth Pass and through the northeastern part of Yellowstone.

Awesome. We did similar - 2 weeks, 4,000 miles. Indiana to Yellowstone and back. Amazing sites and a ton of miles.

Wait, didn't anyone tell you that was too many miles for too short of a time and with too many stops? You can't do a trip like that and still enjoy it. I read that on the groups and know I'm right.

(Kidding- great pictures! I also followed you on Flickr. You hit some of my favorite stops!)

Thanks!

There was a lot of driving for sure, and many stops, some too long and some too short. It was originally going to be a 3 week Yellowstone and Black Hills trip that morphed into a 3 week Yellowstone, Black Hills, and BTW we're going to CO, AZ and UT to visit family and friends trip.

It was also secretly/jokingly (though our kids didn't find it funny) a trip to see where we might like to move later on. Wife and I both loved Jackson, WY. I want my wife to see Missoula, but there was no time this trip. Loved the area all along US-212, but man the mosquitoes were NO JOKE.

When we got to the Black Hills we loved it and there was no mosquito problem. The weather there in the winter is quite a bit worse than Missoula, though.

Next year we plan to go to Banff! At least, I hope so.

Also, the KOA at Palmer Gulch in the Black Hills was amazing. At least, if you're someone that like amenities and nice parks that one is great. If you like less developed campgrounds then it's not for you.
