RV Park Greed

Bay Meadows RV Park Consecon, Ontario decided last year to upgrade the electricity from 30 amp to 50 amp service. This sounded great until we found out this year that the want $1,000.00 from each campsite that wants to be hooked up to 50 amp service.
They want us to pay for a park improvement that will benefit the park owners for ever.

I would assume this means they are a seasonal site perhaps, and not just a nightly/weekly park?

Tell them it was nice knowing them but it will be better to forget them and move to another CG ASAP or sooner.

Is this a time share camp ground or do you own the a site out right. If its a time share you might want to look at your contract and insure the wording on site improvements. If you own it then I would be calling my on electrician because if its just replacement of breaker and receiver that is a little high. Now if they have to run new wire because they did not plain things right to start with that might be different.

RV ParkGreed

It is neither time share nor an owned site it is a seasonal: May 1st to Thanksgiving. They have recently upgraded the service in the park to 50 amp but have not upgraded each site from 30 to 50 amp. That is optional by each camper at the cost of $1,000.00 to be paid by each camper that wants the upgrade.
Yes, we have made our decision and are currently looking but are finding it almost impossible to find RV parks in Ontario that accommodate live aboard Canadian snowbirds.
They have 50 week park models, nightly, weekly, monthly and "seasonal".
I posted this because I thought others would like to be alerted to the greed of Ontario RV park owners.

I couldn't agree more, I find Canada just like the UK, they want to extract the maximum from each person, as though there might never be another customer.

My ancestors are from Annan in the Borders and my wife has a brother in Dunfermline.
It goes without saying we are interested in finding an Ontario park that will understand the needs of fulltime snowbirds and is people friendly.
Thanks to everyone that responded.

Why not just rent the 30 amp site at no additional cost? Others may find the $1000 upgrade cost worth it to them. I don't see the problem.

Please see the Forum Thread "Snowbird Friendly RV Parks". The attitude of the owners of Bay Meadows is not conducive to a happy stress free atmosphere. There are about 20 campers trying to leave because of the new management. I neither can nor do I wish to try to change the management attitudes.
