Fdw took a drive out to the cg yesterday. She said it was amazing how good things look now. The roads were repaired, the campsites dry and could hardly tell there was a flood.

We are mid-way through our first year as seasonal campers and as I was done trimming yesterday I thought I'd snap a few pics and share them here. Still some work to be done on the shed but its getting there!

Enjoying it so far and it has really allowed us to get out more with my kids sports schedules - especially since I am a coach....

Wait, after 20 yrs of traveling to camp, I cannot say how nice it is to now have a great area and site to go to.
No issues finding spot, booking 3 months in advance. No issue with noise or neighbours. No loading and unloading. No trying to figure out how to get boat out to lake as well. Love it!

Having a seasonal still provides options and perhaps gives the owner the most economical vacation home around. How many one bedroom condos in Florida, on the water can you buy for less than $75,000? Yearly comprehensive maintenance & management fees of $2,400, which covers everything but electric? Answer - None. Condominiums can be well over $1,000 a month plus. Insurance on a fifth wheel $500 compared to thousands for a condo.
Options? Nothing from preventing most from hooking up and traveling elsewhere, we do. Best investment we ever made.

One additional benefit, taxes. Property tax on FL lot, about $700. Property tax on fifth wheel in SC, about $2,000, now have FL title and tags instead of SC. Net cost to own approximately $1,000 a year less what we would pay to camp elsewhere...

Don't forget the best part...no lines at the dump..
Other then I mis towing, but I can get over it.
Easy out site for road trips, best of both types of camping. 1 year and loving it!

We've finally decided to switch CG. We've been camping at our current one for 10+ years and have been seasonal for 4 years.

I don't have the room to explain everything that has gone on at the CG but suffice to say that we decided to move before it was too late. There are quite a few other campers leaving or that have already left within the past 12 months. A lot of people are unhappy and we can see the writing on the wall.

So we are going from 30 amp service with weekly pump-out (no sewer) to 50 amp service with full sewer. I also get to be neighbors with Platokidd!

Pictures will follow sometime in October once we get settled in.

We will be looking for a RV Resort/Park around the Titusville cocoa area in Florida. Would like to have any suggestions?

We own one at Outdoor Resorts of America, Melbourne Beach, FL, 20 minutes south of Cocoa and much less traffic. PM me if you would like more information.

Northern Illinois winters

Normally when we shut down for the season, I take the battery home to trickle charge.
Now I have thoughts of leaving the battery and the camper plug into shore power.
Then get some sort of sound-wave plug in to scare away mice. Dont know how well the sound plug-ins work but this would be part of an arsenal to combat them.

Any who, 1) Im weighing the pro's and cons of leaving the battery plug in.?
And 2 anyone had any luck with those mouse sound wave plug-ins ?

I leave mine plugged in all winter long.

Does your columbus have a wfco converter?

Ms amy swears by the Electronic mouse gadgets.
I see no mice and I don't have to set traps!

I'd have to look, it plugs into the wall and the directions suggest it emits a ultrasonic noise.
It's made by victor.

Ty we love the Columbus thus far, even tho I've been ribbed by a certain someone about turning into a snooty white collar boy, I just remind him he drive a dodges so we're not all perfect.

Never had problems storing my unit at home, just at the campground.

Pick up a 4 pack of them yesterday and plugged them in the camper. According to my meter they draw 0 amps, so it much of a load on the wfco.

Is it optional to leave the battery hooked up? Or can I take it home? Dont want it to freeze (I know the wfco will trickle charge it.

Removed one dead mouse yesterday. Last 4 weeks of the season I been catching mice in traps and seeing mice droppings.
Threw mothballs under the camper, on frame and in outside storage area. Scented mouse repellent packs , bounce sheets and steel-wool in every gap.

As far as the dodge boy goes....well he is a Cubs fan so I can give him a pass.

If you haven't found a place yet, Last week we booked at a County Park in Melbourne Fl. They had a lot of spots, don't know how long you can stay. We are only staying overnight and then down to Florida City for 2 mos. But plan on spending a week there in March on the way back home.
