Share Your Favorite Florida RV Resorts

We've gone from weekend and week long camping to extended stay and would like any suggestions towards RV resorts in northern to central Florida. We're retired, but not idle and enjoy exploring the many parks, beaches, aquatics and attractions these areas have to offer. Will spend a month or so since we own a home here in the midwest and don't want to sell it yet. Don't enjoy the cold anymore so the winter is the time we want to go. Prefer a gated community with lots of activities if possible and maybe a resort where we can volunteer a few hours a week.
Thanks!

Look into Suwannee River Rendevous CG near Mayo, FL. Very quiet, great pool & hot tub, bingo on Friday nights and often entertainment Friday and/or Saturday. Great campers, staff and great owners. The small town of Mayo is 10 miles away for the basics and all the malls and big box stores are about 25 minutes away. The campground is located right on the river for fishing and boating. Good fast food kitchen on premises.

You and everyone else.

I agree with Tim, Disney's fort Wilderness is really nice.

It's not northern/central Florida, but you can't beat the beauty of Bluewater Key in Key West. BUT- it lacks activities.

In Jacksonville, I think Flamingo Lake hits what you're looking for.

Williston Crossing RV Resort in Williston FL is very nice. Spent 5 days there for a rally. Very well kept up, decent site room, very nice swimming pool and meeting hall. The usual activities, playing cards, bingo, corn hole. It is a Good Sam 10/10/10 resort. West of I-75 about equal distance from Gainesville and Ocala (25 miles to Ocala - 22 miles to Gainesville).

Actually, where I'm at now- Harbor Lakes in Port Charlotte, FL has a ton of activities and is pretty nice. It's not gated, though.

These are all good suggestions and we'll be busy next month looking at some of them. As we've gotten older, we've traded some of our love for the snow and peaks of the Rockies for the sand and sunsets of the Gulf. Being retired now, we can indulge in both and still keep our home base in middle America!

Just spent the entire month of November at Harbor Lakes and agree it's a nice park but has too many park model "homes" for us.

In that area, we have preferred Riverside RV Resort just east of Port Charlotte, towards Arcadia where we will be spending the rest of this winter. They cater to "snowbirds" exclusively from Nov-Apr. and has only a handful of year round residents. It's a gated park, right on the river with a boat launch, reasonable rates, NO metered electric, daily trash pickup, and numerous other "perks". Another BIG plus was that it was privately owned until this year when Encore bought it. We will see if it remains our favorite once the "corporate" mentality takes hold.

Cross Creek RV resort Arcadia Florida. Gated, pool, many activities. Bingo, cards , pickle ball ,shuffleboard. Hamburger night--Breakfast Friday mornings. Many dances & entertainment nights.
Some park models and RV mix.
