I had an insecticide company (1 of those looking for business visits) come by soon after I bought my current house. "Did you know that you have black widow spiders in the shrubbery in the front of your house" was his excited comment !! I said, yeah, I was aware of that, but I don't see a big problem. The guy never came back.

I hated spiders as a kid, but became a little more tolerant of this little boogers after forcing myself to watch the movie "Acrophobia" about 20 years ago.

I did have a cousin that lost a leg due to complications from brown recluse bites, and an aunt that almost died from a black widow bite back when she was a kid.
