We usually do three hours but will do the six hours to our spot at the lake and then leave the trailer and commute back for three or four days of work and then back out with the truck only.

It's not worth the effort for hooking up the TT for anything less than 4 nights. Unless the destination is within 1-2 hours and it was going to be good weather. In this case, no less than 3 nights.

When the kids were growing up (80's - 90's) we would have the motorhome loaded, six place sled trailer hooked up,and leave without them even going in the house when they got off the school bus. This was in winter of course and I would drive from toledo to the UP in mich six hrs if the roads were ok,sometimes 10 hrs.Unload the sleds and ride 300 miles sat, then 150 or so sunday, load up and be on our way home by 4pm.This was every weekend from dec to march except for christmas break when we would have the boat hooked up and head to fla, dirveing straight thru both ways.In the summer we had aperm site at Indian River Mi and the boat stayed in the water so we would drive the car or truck.

Now that we are retired and a bit older we never drive on week ends or holidays and dont go anywhere for less than a week.

Well that thats not much of a get away. I go for a week at a time and will drive around 300 to 350 miles a day. About right. Of course we are retired so we choose to not do much close to home except maybe on Holidays when it's best to stay off the roads. Later RJD

We live in central Texas, I really mean the middle of Texas. 1 Hour from Austin, 2 Hours from San Antonio, 2 Hours from the DFW area, about 3 1/2 hours from Houston. Depending on the event about one to two hours. We go to lots of concerts, festivals, Conventions, Art openings, city events, etc. I like to take off Friday, get there early leave casually on Sunday, if it's from Dallas, Austin or San Antonino or inside that circle. We generally don't go to Houston much, I used to live there and that was enough.

I have no issue driving 3-5 hours, preferably 3! A couple weeks ago I drove five hours to Ottawa for the weekend.
