Yard camping - free is for me!

For the last few years we've invited friends to set up tents @ my parents house on Long Pond, MA and party for the 4th of July weekend.

This year we plan to go over with the Roo, so we took a test run this weekend. I think it makes a nice addition to the yard.

This also marks the 3rd time we've used the camper to stay over family or friends house for a night. What a huge convenience it is! I can't believe I was too stubborn to get one of these sooner.

That's the ONLY way to go. I visit both my sisters this way. When I'm sick of them, I get out of their house and go to my RV. Someone shoulda told me this earlier.

Great idea. If we go visit my sister in VA I am going to suggest we take our RV. Especially since she likes it cold ( like 55 degrees ) and she is a smoker. Last time we went to visit we had to go outside to get warm..lol and get fresh air.

We do the same at our family cottage. Nice to take a break when you want.

This is the biggest reason we bought and kept our campers. Yes, it is nice to take weekend trips out here in Colorado, but it totally has made the two week vacation trips down south to visit the families worth it. One week of camping in a state park on a huge lake for base camp, then one week of yard camping for the other side of the family.

Getting ready to winterize and so I went back to review where we spent our 30 nights camping in 2013:

Nights @ an actual campground: 4
Nascar (Loudon, NH): 5
Yard camping @ Friends & Family: 21

DW said for 2014 we're going to have to try a little harder to visit campgrounds.

LOL, I challenge you to find a campground nicer than the site at the folks Beautiful! We do a family reunion every year and usually have at least 6-8 campers there. Tons of fun! and on family land with full hookups ~ LOL, I guess you know you have a camping family when they have full hookup RV spots on their property!

And you don't have campground hosts waiting for you to check out.
