CALUMET -- Michigan State Police at the Calumet Post dispel a rumor about the illegality of operating a vehicle with a trailer hitch while not pulling a trailer.
Officials report that a rumor has been spreading across the Keweenaw that Trooper are ticking motorists for having a "Reese style" trailer on their vehicle with no trailer. While a bill was introduced in 2012 calling for restrictions on operating a vehicle with temporary towing devices, the bill never passed the house.
Police say that if a resident has received a citation for this violation, it is not legitimate and should be brought to the attention of the MSP Calumet Post.
