I hate those limits. Drives me crazy. With a diesel 38 gallon tank, It can get annoying quick. Today the station I've been using that did not have $75.00 limit, I found has a $100.00 limit. Sheesh!

I think an easy way to get around all of this is to get a fleet card for your favorite gas stations.

You are lucky to only pay less the $4 per gal. I'm in BC Canada gas is $4.90 / gal.

Just pay inside, most of us need the exercise anyway. We only ever stop for fuel when a potty break is required so we are inside anyway.

The Murphy's (Walmart) around here are the worst for the $75 limit. Since I drive a diesel I usually stop at the local truck places and there's no limit there. Of course, I usually pay with cash unless I'm traveling.

I talked to the Murphy operator near me and she said it was a company (Murphy) decision to have the limit.

I have had all of this happen to me in the past...now, before I venture on a long trip I call the card company and advise them that I will be making some hefty fuel purchases and repeat scans as the pumps do have a limit. By doing this it has eliminated all of the problems I read above..

When we went to FL in 07, it's was 50.00 limit which sucked because I was hauling our PUP. Now I have a larger TV and RV our December FL trip is going to hurt with the on/offs every so often. I can't fill up my truck now on 75.00.

I talked to both of my credit card services and both said this is controlled by the gas station or franchise. Credit Cards companies don't really have control over the shutoff at a certain dollar amount.
As a matter of fact, the would be happy if you maxed out your card filling up... lol

I recently had a pump that stopped at $75. Normally, I would just shut the pump down and start a new charge, but this time it would not allow me to use the same card. Had to go inside and use the same card to pump more gas. The attendant said the pumps were set up not to take the same card, but it could be done again from inside.
