89 octane prices

Are you seeing the wild price differences between 87 octane and 89 octane gasoline? My truck will run on either, but 89 is recommended for towing.

The gas prices we see promoted on stations feature the price for 87 octane, rarely posting the higher octane prices. While I expect 89 to cost more I am finding the price difference at some is 20 cents, some are 50 cents, and one in Oklahoma was 70 cents higher!
I suppose they think we will the promoted low price for 87 and then just punch the 89 button without really looking at the price.

The overwhelming majority use 87. That is the stations focus.

We learned the hard way in Nevada the advertised price is often for cash only purchases. While I've seen this at the larger truck stops, I was not expecting to see it at the smaller stations. To make matters worse the prices on the pump showed only the cash price. It wasn't until I swiped my card and selected a grade did the credit price show. It was 10 cents higher!! Thankfully, they only got me once!

As has been said, if I can't afford fuel I am in the wrong hobby! Still don't mind saving a little money.

Their marketing practices can be deceiving. Here in Texas it is illegal to charge extra for credit purchases. But there is no penalty so it is rarely enforced.
