GEICO charges me $332.00 for 6 months full coverage on my RV, including roadside assistance.

Vehicle insurance covers the trailer while in tow and attached to the TV. Should the trailer come loose from the TV and not have specific trailer insurance, you are on your own. I have trailer insurance as I do not want to be responsible for liability should the trailer damage others property, kill someone or incur trailer damage if unhooked.

Anyone else NOT have insurance?

I just talked to my agent this week. You are correct about Auto and Homeowners covering it (State Farm) I will be paying $240/yr with discounts to cover it while camping.
I would not risk not having insurance we payed to much to loose it to a tree branch.

Couple of hundred bucks a month for Trailer insurance??!!!?? Ours is about $150 per YEAR added on to our truck insurance. If you were quoted a couple of hundred per month I'd sure look at getting different auto insurance. We have Hartford through AARP.

I pay $240 a year with $500 deductible through State Farm, while in tow it is covered by my tow vehicle for liability only. Insurance is cheap enough why not have it.

This statement is correct. However, there are plenty of Casinos out there, if you are willing to roll the dice and go without insurance. Ask your truck insurer if you are covered if someone falls off your TT step and breaks a leg. I bet their answer is no. Ted

I have separate insurance for my TT from my tow vehicle and would not be caught dead without TT insurance. I've had 3 total losses on campers in less than 10 years and insurance on each saved me every time. Unless you live in a state where your tow vehicle's insurance covers your RV, I strongly encourage you to look into insurance. If you are not a full-timer, many insurance companies allow you to "suspend" the insurance on your RV if you only use it seasonally. That's what I do. The insurance is dirt cheap while the RV is sitting over the winter and is otherwise well worth the minimal expense when I have the TT out on the road during my camping season. Good luck!

It also depends on circumstances: we have fulltimers coverage and pay (gasp) $1800 per year. But this includes personal liability and medical for visitors, comprehensive, liability, expenses while RV is being repaired, roadside assistance and $15000 contents along with some other items. We have no homeowner's policy to add it on. State Farm's coverage just isn't enough for full timers IMO.
In May all of our slide out toppers had to be replaced due to wind damage. Then in September, they paid out $112,000 for a new trailer and other expenses when ours was totalled.
We have never regretted having full insurance; it's a bargain even at that high cost.

We added the travel trailer to our auto policy. $76 a year, $500 deductible, same as our vehicles.

I don't think my insurance on our last TT was anymore than $200/year. Kinda cheap considering what could go wrong - Murphy's Law.
