20% is the measurement I always use no matter trailer, 5th wheel or my latest motorhome.
Don't let them fool you. They still make plenty even at 20% off MSRP.
Now you can hit them with a low ball and maybe they will take it or not.
If you are trading in a rig they give you low price on trade-in. Fight for what you want and walk if you aren't satisfied.
Trust me they will call you back in a day or two to make the deal.

My present new 2012 motorhome was listed for $159,990
I got it out for $100,000. Plus tax and Lic of course.
So that $60,000 off MSRP which is 33%

Offer 30% off their sticker price and make them justify you raising it.
Working UP from your number is way easier for you than working down from theirs.

You should be able to get 25% off retail without much work. You can get a great quote to get an idea from an online discounter like RVWholesalers.com

Yup, x2 what Iggy said. We just bought a new Columbus from a dealer in MI and had it delivered to NC. Asking was 60k +, paid 48k. Consider internet prices. A dealer may be 1000 miles away that means $1000 delivery, but if you save 20K as we did instead of buying local dealer (who has a reputation of not negotiating) that adds up big time. Not to mention Forest River has plenty of dealers to provide warranty work (In our area anyway). We are very pleased how all worked out. Check out Midway RV in Grand Rapids, MI and ask for Bill. He is on the up and up.

I think I've been at about 33-34% off of msrp on both my 5ers.
We did order both, so dealer had no floor plan interest or anything other than a couple minutes of paperwork and make ready in it

Ps. Maybe a little more off the sticker on the first one, now that I think about it. Cause I had them get my 5th wheel hitch (b&w companion) thrown in at the 33% price, but honestly dont remember for sure, might be a been less than 30% before the hitch.

MSRP is set by the dealers and they are all over the place. 22% off at one dealer may be a better deal than 32% off at another. When I bought my first trailer (Keystone Passport) the MSRP was 24K and we paid 16,400. Thought I got a great deal. After I bought it I saw the same trailer at a different dealer with a MSRP of 19,900 and price was 15,900. The bottom line number is what is important, not necessarily the % off of MSRP. The Passport line from Keystone is a perfect example of how MSRP can vary drastically from dealer to dealer. There are zero options so each trailer (per model) are identical.

We bought a 14 Sunseeker with msrp of $96k. We settled on $65,700, but I think we could have got it lower if we had walked out

Mine stickered at $59K but I got them down to $43K and got them to give me NADA retail value for my trade. I was happy with it, they're still in business so it worked out. . 37% off seems like a lot, but it must work.

Mine is a 2014 model, I purchased it in February and they were about to participate in the RV show in Atlanta, they needed the lot room.

30% off on ours from a local dealer once we showed them the internet prices. We paid maybe $2k more for the unit, but it evened out with no delivery fees, since we didn't have the time to drive cross country. Plus, local dealer for service priority.

I did what Lou mentioned - I contacted two different online "wholesalers" to establish what a bargain basement number was.

I also did what MillerTime talked about and ordered my unit. I was able to contact 3 local dealers and have them price fight on exact units (exact model, completely identical list of options, etc.).

My SolAire Tavel Trailer MSRP was $42,000 and I bought it for $28,000.. about 33% off MSRP. I have seen the model like mine without the slide out kitchen on dealer lot's a few times asking $32-$34k. They threw in a pack of Lynx Levelers, starter kit, folding step stool, etc..

Thinkin I got a pretty decent deal.

I got mine for 38.5% off MSRP. Although mine was a model that they only had one of and it didn't have the candy-coated front with the cool boy LEDs. I'm fine with it though because I wanted to cut down the hitch weight some anyway.

Of course you're talking fifth wheel here so I'm not sure on those but I bet it would be a little less of MSRP, maybe 5% difference.

We've always got 25% on motorhomes, and anywhere from 30-37% off on the towables. We've had better luck with special orders since they are in / out to the dealer and won't sit for a month on the lot. Not sure if this has been mentioned, but a lot of dealers mark their MSRP up, to make it look as if you're getting XX% off the MSRP. They can pretty much name what they want. If you're lucky, you can get the actual MSRP from the manufacturer with options that you want. I noticed in the last several months that our dealer quit posting the MSRP sheet from the factory like they used to. Now you can just see the options. So, I'd be willing to bet they too are jacking up the retail to give you a "deal".

A good deal = When you are happy, and the dealer is happy.

If you don't have a trade in, see how low they will go and/or how hungry they are for that week to make the sell...they will only say no...but to your surprise, maybe yes to a 35-38% mark down

I've been pricing the Roo 21SSL. Checking close to home and spanning out if I don't get the price I'm looking for. So far, Denver and Colorado Springs dealers aren't willing to budge. Probably something to do with the time of year. Then the story about how popular this model is.
