Best Flat Tow Vehicles

I recently purchased a 2014 Georgetown 270SS. I am trying to research SUVs for flat towing that are lightweight, low maintenance, and good to drive around town. I was wondering what you all find as a good lightweight SUV that can be flat towed.

Subaru Forrester, with a manual transmission. Almost any Subi, new or used, with a manual tranny can be towed 4 down with no modifications needed to be done.
Ultra reliable and dependable. All wheel drive, with the road clearence of a stock Jeep Wrangler.
We tow a Subi XV Crosstrek, but its a smaller crossover and the Forrester is a regular suv. Its our 6th Subi, and wouldn't have any other make/brand.

Pull a 2015 Cherokee with Active II transmission, automatic.Really a sweet ride DW daily commute vehicle. Curb weight is about 4000 lbs.Motorhomes dinghy guide online will give you a pretty good listing of available toads. Setup with Blue Ox equipment is about 10-15 minutes. Cherokee tows with no key in ignition and dont even know its there

Just got done with the same research and purchased a 2010 CRV - one of the most common towed vehicles. The reason why so popular is that you can tow them equipped with an automatic transmission.

Ford Escape

Towed my 2011 Ford Escape 15k miles with no problems. The Escape is certified to flat tow up until 4/2012. I looked at the GAC Terrain which I liked, but they were pricey.

BTW, you just put it in neutral and go.

Happy Trails, Forrest

We tow a 2004 Jeep Wrangler with Roadmaster Sterling Tow Bar, and Brake Buddy Stealth brake control. Fast and easy to hook up, and when my wife finds a 4-wheel drive needed scenic drive we are ready.

Just bought a FR270SS two months ago. I just finished setting up my 2011 Equinox with blue ox tow bar and base plate today. The Equinox will flat tow. I will be towing next week. I will let you know how it goes.
