You speak of model years 16 and 17, didn't the 2017 hit the market late spring 2016. By the time you are camping in Ohio the 2018 will be hitting the market, am I correct?

Right now the 2017's are out. The dealers are clearing the 2016's. If I order over the winter, the 2018's will be out.

Ultimately, you need to buy what you really want and comfortable with your decision. A year after your purchase, you'll likely not be thinking about the good deal you got if you are disappointed in features or floorplan compromises.

I was dealing with FR about this within the past week. Straight from the FR warranty administrator the window is still 10 days but they have been flexible for a bit longer on a case by case basis. Buy the unit you want when you want from a dealer you can work with. IMHO the dealer is more important than the unit. If you wait around for a perfect deal, the floor plan or some other important to you feature it may be gone by the time you are ready to buy.

When we purchased our Concord we weren't really in the market, we had planned on waiting another year. We had started looking, saw the Concord it checked of 98% of the boxes on our list and the price was good. We bought a 2016 model in February of 2016. FWIW we started seen 2017 models in May of 2016.

We camp all year round here in the south so I can't help you much on the non-camping warranty issue. Other than to recommend that you do a thorough testing and walk through of everything, then make sure any issues are dealt with prior to signing on the dotted line. Especially if you are buying something that is going to be hard to move once it is set up.

Yeah the Hershey show is a big hit going on now. For the past 5 yrs I have had a different friend or family member going just to look but ended up buying because of the deals, they are ready to lay out the best prices from what i have seen and heard.

If you're "narrowing down the search". Remember to look for lots of wardrobe space. Never seems to be enough space for your clothes. Our TT has a pop-out wardrobe in the bedroom.

Our first season with our TT is coming to a close and we still have storage cabinets that we haven't even opened since the dealer inspection.

You can probably get a deal on last year's model but two things come to mind.

1. Tires have a definite shelf life so even though few miles have been put on them they are closer to expiration date.

2. Some RV parks have a 10 year rule which keeps out trailers older than 10 yrs old.

That is a nice layout! Similar but not the same as our own. Our TT
has the kitchen in the rear with the dinette opposite. Entertainment area in the center and walk around queen bed at the other end. I take it its just you and the misses.

I've never understood the allure of park model trailers. Why buy a trailer that's supposed to spend it's life in the same spot? Aren't trailers supposed to be portable and move around?

Hi timfromma,
I used to feel the same as you. However some people are just
not campers. Park models generally don't have 12 volt systems.
They are basically just a cottage with standard kitchen & bathroom
appliances. My wife & I spend 4 months of the winter in our TT
& although our trailer has wheels & moves for a lot
of people they could neither handle the day to day grind of camping
nor have a vehicle to pull. Not to mention the "extra care" you need
to take when negotiating gas stations and campground lots.
But they get the "spirit" of camping and the neighborly friendliness
of camping and all the activities carried out in campgrounds.

The allure of a park model trailer is the extra room you have on the interior. Full size bed, kitchen, shower and living room, tall ceilings and slides. We drove to different places for years, we got a real nice seasonal lot at our favorite place. We drive there, unlock the door, put out the awning and start camping. I still do not see the allure of packing all your stuff in a trailer, hitching up, drive to a campground where you may or may not find a spot. Then you get to unhitch, setup and 2 days later, pack your stuff, hitch up, drive home, unpack and unhitch.

Hi Ian Walker,
Thanks, we like the Salem Villa 395RET layout too. It will give us extra sleeping area for the kids (14 & 20) when they decide to join us which is less and less these days. Also it would give the two of us plenty of space without feeling cramped on a rainy or cold day. Hope to find one local to do a walk through soon to see if we like it in person.

We bought ours along with family members at the Indy Boat Sport and Travel show. 2016 30KQBSS, sticker was a little over 30k, we paid 18500 for it. Family also bought at the show a few years ago, 40k sticker, paid 24k for it. IMO, shows have great deals.
