Nope, you can't buy from Forest River direct but you can look online for dealers that will sell close to wholesale.

no, you can't buy direct from FR.

dealers that sell "wholesale" like RVWholesalers and RVDirect, are not true wholesalers. they are simply RV dealers that slash prices to sell at higher volume than other dealers. it's just a newer marketing tool that has worked due to the power of the Internet.

so, they get better prices from the factory.

Instant millionaire. Buy and sell at cost. High volume no margin. Getting warranty work done will be a little tough. There will be nice dealer to take it back to. He will be out of business in short order.

Actually, we did order our 285WP from FR through a local factory rep, not a dealership of any kind, but this was done in Feb. 2008.
At that time, on the FR website, they had a page for "Building Your Own".We liked the 285WP floorplan and filled out the form for what we wanted and submitted it. FR replied with an email the same day and mentioned that if we were interrested in purchasing this unit, contact their local factory rep. We did and made a few more changes to the floorplan through the rep and put down a 10% deposit, which created the work order for the build. Five weeks later it was delivered to us (it was an opinion that we paid for) strainght from the Elkhart plant.
But, the last time I looked on the FR website, they didn't have the "Build Your Own" page.
