It's my fault - booked a week at Disney for March, and the exchange rate fell off a cliff.

At least I prepaid as much as i could before things got too ugly...

It is very political and this is not a political forum, so I will not go into the causes. My suggestion for now would be to 'pass through' the U.S. and not stop at southern Texas, but go to northern Mexico.

Guess I should plan out trip to N.S. this summer, rather than wait a year.

Your mistaken if you think California taxes are higher than in Canada. Canada is farther down the socialistic path than where the US is currently heading.
Albeit, something is awry, when it's made in Canada and you're paying more for that item than in your own country.

I was talking to a local RV dealer and he was saying the exchange is going to kill the new model year, the exchange rate will drive the prices out of some peoples reach. He mentioned the stuff sitting on the lot will sell off along with the used units but new stock will take a hit. He will be gauging things (people walking in the door) at the upcoming RV shows in Toronto.

The Manufacturer can Offer a DISCOUNT to the Canadian Dealers or better yet restart the RV towable industry in Strathroy and Hensell. Lots of labour available!

The US Supplier orders them from China and adds a 200% markup. We have free trade with China in Canada hence the cheaper prices.

Todays exchange rate is: $1 US to $1.38 CDN. Canada is our biggest trading partner, primarily energy, forest products etc. Generally speaking when the exchange rate starts to widen, like it is currently, not many good things happen on the individual level. Tourism tends to become one way, like many other goods and sevices. I hope for our neighbors (correct spelling, haha) it doesn't get to out of joint. But, based on what I see, it sure doesn't seem it's going to end well for all of us.

The US also pumps a lot of money into Canada. As stated above, Canada is and has been the USs largest trading partner for many years. Our economies are connected and I am sorry that the Canadians have to pay so much for fuel and booze. I am doing my part, I am training the very best Canadian woman to take my place as CEO of a US company with 352 employees. I couldn't be happier with her even if she was from the US.

I am nice!

Don't forget, 4 liters to a us gallon (give or take) so you are looking at 3.29/gal! I saw gas for 1.34 a gallon this morning! But you are right, lowest in years and more than 1/2 of what it was last year

Actually yes and no depending on where you live .823L x 3.78L = $3.11 gal CAD. Currency conversion 1:1.38 makes it $2.25 per gal. USD

The higher taxed states are about that, while the lower taxed states, yours, are almost about $.90 per gallon cheaper. Good for the lower taxed states, bad for canada and our higher taxed states. Just sayin'
