Consignment

Hello, I’m going to offer my RV up for sale. It’s a 2016 FR Cherokee. But I’m wondering how consignment works. Any insight would be helpful. Also is there a Kelley’s blue book for RVs?
Thx

Typically, the dealership where you have it at will take a certain percentage of the sale. This should be negotiated up front. Yes, there is guide for used pricing. Be aware that pricing fluctuates with the time of the year.

I looked at consigning mine. I ended up selling it to them instead because it worked better for me. You can do much better financially by consigning it but you also share the risks. Some things to consider.

1. The fee: they offered to sell mine for a 10 percent commission. This number is negotiable.
2. You need to agree on a listing price and terms such as will you be contacted with each offer, or can they accept above a certain dollar amount without contacting you.
3. Confirm if you are required to keep the unit insured while it is at the dealer and who is responsible for any damage that occurs.
4. If you are in a cold climate, will you bring it in winterized or will they do it free of charge for you.
5. Are you obligated to leave it with them for some period if time or can you cancel at any time.
6. If you sell it on your own while it is on their lot what do you owe them.
7. If the unit does not sell, will they begin lowering the price month by month or will you need to renegotiate after each month or two that the unit does not sell.

I am sure I have missed a few things but you get the general idea, ask lots of questions get the answers in writing.

Good luck!

Mine was a little different. I knew what I wanted for the fifth wheel. Told the dealer what I wanted and they said OK we can take it on consignment. Do not know what they sold it for or care. I got what I wanted.

NADA for the book value. Make sure you add options in.

Only real options, not the typical "forced" options.
Like a/c, oven, stereo, awning, furnace and so on.

Only things like upgrading from a 13.5 a/c to a 15k. Or slide toppers.
