Deductible on Forest River Warranty

The switch on our power jack is broken and one of the light fixtures is busted. Our 1 year extended warranty expires the end of the month. DH contacted our dealer since the parts will be about 100 bucks with shipping to see if it's covered. They told us we have a $100 deductible to be paid by us before they will fix it. I need to find my confirmation when we mailed Forest River the check, but I don't remember seeing any deductible. Our dealer was pretty screwy during the purchase even though we did get an awesome deal. I don't trust a thing they say which is why I'm questioning it.

Anyone have any ideas? We purchased May 2012.

Here is FR form.

I had no deductible on my extended warranty. I would give FR a call about this.

Yup, they are ripping you off.

My local dealer requires a $100 "inspection fee" before performing any warranty or service contract work. Needless to say I didnt buy from them and wont be using them for anything if that is the level of customer service that they provide.

My husband just called and now they will be shipping the new switch to us. I don't know what he said, but they dropped the $100 deductible. He forgot to mention the light fixture, so he called back again. The said that's not covered, but the jack switch is. Obviously I have reasons not to trust them (it goes far beyond this one incident). Anyone know if that's true? It doesn't mention it on the form.

I wish i made a copy of my form before i sent it in. But if i recall correctly the FR warranty covered the stuff "made" by FR such as the walls, frames, mechanical. Appliances and the such were covered by their own warranty.

Personally I would call Forest River and get what is and is not covered straight from the horses mouth. I wouldnt trust what your dealer is saying as they have already proven themselves "misinformed" at best if not out right dishonest.

I attached the FR contact list i got when I had issues with my local dealer.

In addition I would post a review of your experience under the dealer review forum so that others know what to expect. If you dont mind burning the bridge by letting them know exactly how you feel, I would email the link to them and post it on their facebook / twitter. The only way they will change is if their behavior starts hurting their profits.

There is NO DEDUCTIBLE on a 12 month or a 2nd year extended warranty through FR. There is one on 3rd party only. Not FR. Don't go for it...... Your 2nd year will end in May the same day in the month you bought the unit. Say like you bought it May 15th 2012, it would end May 15th 2014. Also the light fixture is covered, it is the same as the first year.

I did post some stuff about them during our purchase on there. They kept tacking on fees and were just plain nasty about retuning calls or answering questions. I think what pissed them off was us not buying the way overpriced husky hitch through then. We bought the Andersen online. The owner refused to install it (we wanted to pay for installation) so we literally pulled it across the street to the vacant parking lot and installed it ourselves. They sat there and watched us, I'm sure the owner was beyond pissed. All of her technicians were blown away with the hitch and were stopping by after they were done with work.

Oh, and we did have an issue with our slide that needed work. We had to wait until the weekend to pick it up once done due to our schedules. This was November mind you, not a huge buying season here in Michigan. She wanted to charge us storage fees since we couldn't get there within a few days of completion. We both work, we had to wait until a day off.

I'd call FR about the light. Tell them you have a warranty. They may send you the replacement light. Your husband can install it.
