Did you buy extended warranty?
We just got our travel trailer and was wondering whether to purchase the extended warranty or not. Would you recommend buying it or have you wished you had bought it?

This is a very commonly asked question. Just do a search. Forest River will sell you the second year for only $150. That's a no-brainer.

Be aware that not everything included on the initial warranty is covered on the extended warranty. The dealership can provide you with the details.

Please know what is covered and more importantly what is not covered. Many don't cover, delamination, frames or axcels. Some appliances will sell you extended coverage for them. It can only be your call because there are so many things to consider. Good Luck

Further to this, it is not offered on all FR products. For instance our new Crusader. If it had been we would have opted for it.

Did Forest River contact you with the offer for $150 or did that come from the dealer? What did it cover? I may be interested in doing it if offered, but in my experience with extended warranties is they are not worth it.

From what I understand, the second year warranty for $150 is an extension of the original one year warranty. I have had to use it for some warranty work without issue. I contacted Forest River to get the paperwork and send them the check as this paperwork was not given to me by the dealer. I seem to recall reading of other owners that were not made aware of the second year option by the dealer.

Fred,
This is offered through FR and some dealers will not make new buyers aware of it. Mine did, but some will not.
There are two stickys in this forum below where you can download the form...

OK thanks. Who did you contact at FR? I will definitely inquire about it.

You can contact the warranty department for the model that you bought. I left them a voice mail and they called back within the hour. In February 2012 when I got a new V-Cross 275 the dealer stated that they didn't know about the 2nd year
warranty for $250 and Forest River told me that the dealers are not required to inform buyers!

Fred, you can try calling 574-535-2006. I believe that was the number. Note that, technically, this should be purchased within 10 days. There have been members here who bought it after the 10 days after explaining their situation to FR. Some others have not been allowed to buy it. Its hit or miss so good luck.

The actual form to fill out was posted on here a couple of years ago. I printed it, filled it out and mailed it in with my $150 check. FR cashed the cashed the check, signed the form and returned it to me. This was nine months after purchase and I didn't speak to anyone.

In past RV purchases, I have always bought them, and have used them. This time, I'm "going naked."
I'm thinking...... paying for the repairs will cost less then the extended warranty. But then again, the ONE TIME can always be the exception.
