ever dealt with an incorrect vin # ???

we just purchased a 2014 300x14 and I have a 2010 gulfstream that we have a buyer for.
the buyers went to the bank and there is a snafu.
gulfstream issued the wrong vin# on the sticker on the side of the trailer!
the stamped steel in the frame, the mso and the title all have the correct #
except the sticker.
gulfstream claims that I need to drag the trailer 300 miles round trip to have a replacement issued by a dealer????
they wont issue me a replacement???
say it aint so?
we are in florida...has anybody ever had this happen before?

I think that having a dealer do it is a legitimate thing- not that you're lying, but what absolute proof do they have that you aren't?

Because it matches what is stamped in the frame and the other paperwork.

Gulfstream admitted the mistake today when I sent them photographs.
I'm the one and only owner, purchased new.
DMV just called me back and they said I have to have a police officer come and document the issue with the Vin number and then I have to apply for a replacement.
Jeez

How about this. ALL vehicles have what is called an MSO (Manufatures' Statement of Origin) which is the official document, generated by the manufacture, that "puts" the vehicle into the system per se with the vin#. I would call gulfstream corporate and have them locate the document and overnighted to you. I would assume you need the original. But first I would place a call to your FL DMV office in Talahasse to find out how best to handle the correction to the "sticker". Or, maybe you friendly, local FL DMV, could walk out in the parking lot and take an imprint, or visually compare the discrepancy. Just a suggestion.

Once the vehicle has been purchased is this sticker even a requirement?
The local dealer that I spoke to called it the RVIA sticker.

Am I missing some logic here? So DMV, Bank, etc. would take what is on a sticker over what is stamped on the metal frame? They think you took a whole TT and moved it onto another frame?
Why not just remove the sticker? Those things fade and peel off all the time.

Your best bet is to take it to the State police dept. They will issue you a statement saying what Vin# is stamped on the frame. DMV will then issue a new title. You do not need to take it back to Gulfstream. the key word here is State Police Dept. not local PD.

I had to do this with a motorcycle. The VIN simply didn't check out in the database, so an officer had to come to my house and sign off that yes, this is the VIN.

Once done, all was well.

It sounds like the OP's title, MSO and frame all match. It's just an info sheet on a cupboard cabinet door that doesn't.

I guess I share the same question the that OP followed up with - does it really matter?
