Extended Warranty

We purchased a new 2011 Crusader 270RET in November 2011...The standard factory warranty will expire next month and we would like to continue on with some kind of extended warranty on the unit as we have have some previous problems with different items related to the unit.
Our dealer has provided us with his program on this subject and since we have never had this on previously owned units, we are seeking more exerienced owners who have...
With that said, please let us know if you have experience in this area and who we should contact.
Regards,
LKicklight

This is always an interesting topic with good cases to be made on both sides of the coin. Here's one thread that might be helpful: How many RVer's buy extended warranty

After reading the above thread, if you still want one, do a lot of research, the cost can varry by a large amount. Many of those sold by dealers and salespersons have up to a 50% markup that goes to the dealer/salesperson. Be sure you know what is covered and as importantly what is not covered. It would not be good to get one and then have frame problems only to find out that the frame is not covered. Good Luck

It is so confussing on this warranty issue...just called FR to find out if we do in fact have a second year extended warranty on our Crusader270RET..they told us know even though we were told differently when we purchased the unit in November 2011...Tape recorders are a wonderful thing when you have one at the right time...

the 2nd year warranty is something you have to purchase separately from FR, I have read many times of people calling FR and telling them that their dealer didnt tell them about the option and FR letting them buy it, dont have personal experience with it though

Not all Forest River Products have the 2nd year warranty available. I have a Prime Time and they don't offer 2nd year coverage. My manufacturer warranty expires next week so I have recently contacted several dealers about extended plans. They were all in the 1600 to 2500 dollar area. After a lot of research I selected three exclusionary plans that seemed to have the best reputation. I ended up going to Wholesale Warranties for $1200 for the exact same contract. Dealer markup is just to high.

When I got my 2012 V-Cross 5er in February 2012, I had read about the 2nd year warranty for $150 on this forum. My dealer claimed to not know about it, so I called Forest River, V-Cross warranty dept., and they called me back and told me that dealers are not required to tell you about it! I downloaded the paperwork, filled it out, signed it and sent it to Forrest River. Within 2 weeks they signed the same paperwork and sent it back to me. Please be careful about the list of RVs that the offer this 2nd year warranty on because the V-Cross was not on the list, but it was offered on them, they told me you have to ask. Good Luck
