Extended warranty, good news

We purchased our Rockwood in August, 2015 but I didn't realize that the 2nd year warranty had to be purchased within a limited time. (It says within 10 days on the form). I sent in the form and payment almost 5 months after purchase and today I received verification of acceptance. Yea Forest River!

I was told by the Rep at F.R. that I had 90 days to submit. I think today is somewhere around Day 60 and I just mailed mine in.

Good hear that F.R. let you buy after that long.

That is great that F/R changed the Time period! I really like the Dealers who Throw the 2nd year Warr.in the Deal, instead of trying to sell you a $$$ Ex.Warr.that in some cases is NOT as good! Yes I know why they try to sell the $$$ Ex.Warr. Some Stealers wont even tell people about the F/R 2nd year Warr! Youroo!!

The 2nd year warranty is not a full warranty like you get with the first yr warranty it only covers material and workmanship . it does not cover the controls , appliances , or systems .

Interesting, the dealer said that the reason the warranty was inexpensive is that FR assumes responsibility for the appliances and other items that still under warranty. In other words FR deals with the other warranties so you don't have to. I just looked at the document and it didn't specifically mention controls or systems but it does list all of the appliances (AC, range, frig. etc.), power converter and other things. Hopefully I won't have to find out.

You guys sound like you're having better luck with warranty than we are. I certainly wouldn't describe it as bumper to bumper at least not for us! We bought it in June so we are still inside the first year of coverage. We were told about (and did buy) the second year but honestly, I would just rather them give me my $150 back as the warranty appears virtually worthless and is a major headache.

our 2nd year factory warranty was bumper to bumper also.
we had a number of big issues fixed in the 2nd year, including microwave, toilet and delamination.

X2....Wording on extended warranty appears identical to original warranty.

X's 2 I never had a problem from the dealer, never had to pay a deductible or anything. They even replaced my TV the second year plus my convertor and repaired some plumbing problems that developed. BEST deal out there..... Granted some things have a 2 year on them like your A/C, but without it you would pay for labor.

Second year warranty is the same as the first year. It extends the first year warranty for a second year. They re easy with the time limit because the dealers are not required to tell you about it. They often try to sell you a warranty/service contract at the time of sale.
I got this information from Forest River.

Our dealer never mentioned the 2nd year thing. In my eyes that's being dis-honest. We were going to buy the extended warranty anyway.

See attached warranty, Most items have at least 2 or more year warranty from the manufacture any way. Examples Coleman air conditioners come with 3 year The roof membrane comes with a manufactures 12 year warranty etc.

Second year warranty for our unit was $250. Dealer never mentioned the FRWarranty, but they sure pushed that $5000 extended warranty. When they were in max pressure mode, i told the sales guy, "well, if i need this warranty THAT bad, maybe i shouldnt even buy it." After that, he's back in the 'what a great trailer this is' mode....liar

Why do I need the warranty?
In case it breaks.
We'll if it's gonna break then I don't want.
It's not gonna break.
Well then why do I need the warranty?
In case it breaks...

Repeat...
