Ford Extended Service Policy (ESP)

I want some opinions and I know they're out there. I have info regarding the Ford ESP and am considering it. How about some real-life feedback to help me decide whether I should go with it. This is for the F-350 Lariat TV. When replying please consider the following:
1. I am generally opposed to extended warranties especially when shoved at you upon purchase (not the case here)
2. The cost is not as bad as I had expected (between 2000 and 2800) for an additional 4 years beyond new vehicle coverage (60K to 100K miles)
3. There is no way I would care to perform maintenance on the vehicle myself...not to mention it's a diesel and I'm even more at a loss
4. Usual maintenance is still at my expense (tires, oil, batt, wipers, etc)
5. Policy covers everything except regular wear items and cosmetic stuff with a $100 deductible per visit (even if more than one issue is found)

My positive thoughts are that once we start full-timing it MAY prove a useful insurance...especially if we're pulling the fiver in the middle of Bum****, Nebraska or somewhere. (No offense to NE...had to use some sparsely populated state name BTW). I value the legit opinions of this forums' users...let's hear yours!

The Ford ESP is well worth the money, I used it a bunch on my Excursion but unfortunately it ran out in May.

First make sure your dealer is selling you Fords ESP plan and not another aftermarket plan.

And second, you do not have to buy your Ford ESP plan from your selling dealer. There are several dealers nationwide that heavily discount Fords ESP plan. Go to and check their prices. They beat my dealers price for the ESP plan I chose by almost 50%. Once I showed my dealer the print out from Flood Ford and the cost of the ESP program they matched the price.

I just put your information into Flood Fords ESP plan program and this is what I got. ESP Premium Care which is the best ESP plan you can get with the hundred dollar deductible for four years at 100,000 miles their price is $1365. I based this on a 2014 F350 4x4 diesel not sure what year you had. Price varies based on year, 4x4 or not, years of coverage and deductible.

Let us know how you do.

I agree with Cover Dog, I found it online for about a 1/3 less than my dealer was asking so they matched it. Really paid off as it cost me about $1500 and a year later I had $2000 worth of front end warranty work done and then this past year had a new (rebuilt I am sure) transmission installed that would have been $5200. Now those prices are dealer prices, MSRP dealer prices at that so I would estimate if not at dealer it would have cost me $4K to have that done which still saved me a wheelbarrow full of cash over my $1500 initial investment. On top of that my trans has it's own ext warranty now that extends for two years past the warranty date, parts & labor. I am now a firm believer in ext warranties.

I have had ESP on my last 3 vehicles including my new Escape and will not ever be without. It covered a complete Tranny rebuild at 150,000km on my previous Escape also new drivers seat as the seat heater shorted out.

I have Ford ESP on both the 13 F 150 Ranch and our 13 Edge. Also bought the maintenance plan as well, that is worth $1100 for the F 150 and $1200 for the Edge good to 150,000 km on both. I just rolled over 39,000 km on the F 150 after 1.5 years.

Ford ESP...WOW!

Thanks to all replies and the great info. I am looking into the Flood Ford plan right now. What a difference! I knew not to agree to the first offer...let's see if the Ford rep will match. The VP of the local Ford Dealership is a past flight student of mine so I know him personally. I have texted him to let me know what his thoughts are...who knows maybe he'll come through too. BTW, the original offer was a mail-then-call us offer from FMC directly. I'll try to keep you posted...thanks again!

I used mine this summer which got me about half my money back. Still have 3 years left, but at 72K that leaves only 28K more miles for the warranty. Our two big cross country trips are over: 1) Indiana to CO, UT, NM and AZ and 2) AZ to Maine and back. Next year will be WY, MT and ID coming from AZ so it won't be as many miles. Will still probably crack 100K miles before 7 years though. I knew I would be towing a lot when I bought the truck so I felt the warranty was worth it.
