Laura.bell

For the small price it looks to be a great value. I was happy that someone here gave me the heads up and I was able to add it on in May after buying the trailer back in September.

Does this FR extended warranty apply to all FR brands? It was never mentioned when I signed the paperwork for our new Lacrosse recently. For $150 I would have seriously considered it.

Best thing to do is call Forest River directly and inquired 574-389-4600.

Like several people here I just asked to speak with the person regarding the second year warranty offer. The lady was so helpful & within a few minutes it was a done deal.

According to FR the dealers are not obligated to say anything about the second year warranty. I went through all my paperwork several times and there was nothing about it in the pile of papers. When I mentioned about the 2nd year warranty and about being surprised that dealers were not obligated to say anything he said something about FR being worried that some dealers would hike the price up.

Our paperwork was removed as I noticed a newly arrived TT on the lot had paperwork where it was readily noticed. When I contacted FR I was told they would like the paperwork done in the required ten days of acceptance but would accept the application as long as it was within a few months of my purchase. It's always best to call and talk with someone directly then rely on word of mouth........

Great thread!

My wife and I are to pick up a 2012 Surveyor 305 in a couple weeks. The finance guy had "encouraged" us to purchase a 6-year protection package, which he assured us would be worth the additional $2000 over the life of the loan. When spending that much money for a TT, we thought it might be a good idea. But, we weren't convinced and told them we would decide for sure when we took delivery and signed the paperwork. After reading this thread, and the fine print on the Surveyor brochure, I think that 2nd year for $150 would be enough... I'll be sure to mention that to the salesman and business manager. :-)

Thanks for the great info!

We should get our 831fkbss in by the end of August. Happy to learn about this warranty and we will definitely get it for the extra $150.

Not strange at all ours was 250.00 and I worked directly with FR to get it setup.
I do not recall the break down FR can tell you but pop ups are 100.00, then there is a group at 150.00 and the last group is 250.00 the higher end and larger 5th wheel campers, ours is the 365 SAQ Sierra.

Dealer is most likely giving you the correct price.

I can't speak for the other FR models, but we picked up our Windjammer on 5/31 and the cost for the 2nd year warranty was $150. Our dealer submitted the necessary paperwork, and we've already received 2nd year warranty confirmation back in the mail from FR. Unless the price has changed in the last 30 days, it sounds like your dealer is either incorrect on the price, or they are planning to pocket an extra $100 bucks.

Dealer didn't mention it, and FR turned me down a few months later...

It cost me $150 last July 2010. It used to be $100 way back when. At least 2 years ago.

Recently bought a Salem and the dealer offered the 2nd yr up front and provided the ppwk at closing. Still managed to send it off a few days past the 10 day mark. Check has been cashed though just waiting on the ppwk.

I WISH that our dealership offered us that simple option at closing instead of spending nearly 30 long, boring minutes trying to strong-arm us into the $1200 "extended warranty" option (which we did not get).
It all worked out, though. After reading this thread, DH called Forest River, gave them the details from our purchase and our credit card #. 4 days later we received the confirmation of our warranty extension for the extra year.
Date of RV purchase: 10/20/10.
Date of purchase for warranty extension: 6/22/11.
Needless to say, that's just a little bit outside of the stated "within 10 days after purchase" window. The representative at FR never even mentioned the 10 day thing nor did they give us ANY hassle about it when we called.

I brought my TT in early September 2010. When I called Jonathan at FR in mid-March he told me that it was not available on Salem models as well as mentioning the 10 day period.

I think it was late May when someone else here posted that they were able to get the EW on their Salem so I called FR and asked to speak with someone in the EW department. I got it added on in just minutes and the pw arrived in about 5 days.

As for Jonathan - since he does not work with the Salem models he wasn't the right person for me to contact. Nice guy but wrong person. When I said something about my dealer not informing of the 2 year warranty offer Jonathan said that dealers are not required to say anything about it.

I was well beyond that "10 day period" too. (But less than 12 months)

Great! The information for the 2nd year is not wide spread but word of mouth like here. Welcome and glad you got yours for $150.

Got mine! Dealer never mentioned it, learned about it here. Sent in $150 over 2 weeks after purchase and got the verification back in about 2 weeks. All they do is stamp the form you fill out and then send it back. Pretty chintzee I think.
