don't believe this kind of excuse!
all FR dealers know about the 2nd year warranty. they want to make a profit and choose to omit it, to sell you an over-priced 3rd party warranty.

they can always claim ignorance

@nd year warranty

We just picked up our 2013 3550RL and the dealer never said anything about 2nd year warranty thru Forest River. He tried to sell a warranty that was $2226.
Only after I informed him that I was going to purchase second year from the factory he then gave me the paper work for it.
Thanks to this forum I knew about it.

Warranty delay cleared up

Finally solved the mystery delay. Talked to Rhonda at FR, she had no record the trailer had been processed as sold/delivered. Called the dealer, they processed it on the system?? and they would call Rhonda. Dealer calls back and advises it is in the system now and my check and application had been sent back to them...........Gee, wonder when they were going to let me know She asked if I still wanted the 2nd year warranty, DUH, I wouldn't ahve sent the check, etc. If I didn't want it. They are sending it back to Rhonda. I just don't get why people run a business like this. I've been around long enough to know better. Hopefully, I'll get it back in the mail soon.

We picked up our 23SS last week. No mention about the extended warranty except a $980 5 year deal from a 3rd party. I'm sending in the form today with a check. I'll post when we get something back...or if we don't. :-)

Sounds very typical of most dealers. My extended warranty from Forest River took about 10 days to get back.

Unfortunately, the dealer made no mention of this when I purchased the trailer. This month they offered to sell me an after market policy for $1604 fo 4 years. That's not a bad price compared to Good Sam coverage at $691 for one year. However, it's still too much money, and I'll just take a chance that the slide out bearings don't break again. Anyway, if anyone is considering the purchase of an FR RV, don't rely on the dealer to tell you about the extended warranty, and be sure to contact FR within 10 days of your purchase.
To set record straight, I was going through my purchase file, and found the second year warranty application that had been given to me when the trailer was purchased. DeMartini RV followed the correct procedure, I just screwed up. Also, the formal quote from Good Sam was $621 for two years. I apologize to all for the incorrect information.

Well this thread has certainly been enlightening. I guess I got screwed over according to what I've read. I purchased a new 2012 v-lite (Forest River product) last August and purchased the Golden Eagle service contract for $995.00. Nowhere on it does it say how long it lasts but it does say that it begins immediately upon purchase. I'll be calling in the morning to find out more about it. Great reading here, certainly opened the eyes of this first time TT buyer.

Well right or wrong we decided NOT to buy the 2nd year FR extended warranty. And we did not buy the 3rd party contract either.

We did not get a hard or even soft sell on either from our dealer. He showed us the FR form that we had 10 days to act on and also handed us a brocuhure for the 3rd party company w/ prices for us to read at our liesure.

We chose to decline the FR because, it looked like everything that would be covered for the second year (applicance trailer components, roof, etc) is already covered by the oem for at least that long.

We may decide to get some 3rd party coverage eventually, but the company that our dealer uses for that will honor the New trailer price for one year.

for only an extra $150, my second year came in really handy. most of my expensive warranty issues showed up in the second year.

don't see why, for how much you paid for the trailer, that getting an extra year for that little, would be a big deal.

Agreed! $150 is a paltry sum to pay for peace of mind for another year. To each their own, I guess!

There were no discussions between the Dealer and myself concerning extended warranty offers on my 2013 Flagstaff 25DS, so I asked the dealer about it via an email. This was his response:

Your major appliances are covered for two years and the Forest River ESP is a two year it essentially covers nothing of value for $200.

A 5 year $50 deductible extended service plan cost $555.00 but even that ESP I cannot recommend.

I have to say that I do not usually purhase extended warranties for hardly anything but in this case the $150 extended warranty was too good to pass up in my opinion.
The 3rd party warranties are too spendy for me and the dealer already got enough of my money.

Looking to obtain the Forest River extended warranty. Is there a website or any direction to obtain this warranty? Purchased a Vibe 6501 in Winnipeg, Canada. Dealership was trying to sell third party for $2500.00. Not good, when you can get a factory warranty for far less

HOLY CRAP! An honest dealer!

The person I dealt with at the dealership actually had the title of "President", so I doubt if his job is in jeopardy

Guess it depends on what you consider to be "something of value" . We had eleven of our cupboard and cabinet doors replaced under the FR second-year extended warranty on our 2010 SUL 8315BSS. Without the second year coverage we would have been out of pocket about $1500.00. Ouch - $150.00 well spent IMHO !

Two of them developed cracked panels and the rest developed separated joins, over winter storage. No one sure of why this happened, as condensation was controlled with dehumidifiers and no really extreme temperature conditions (Vancouver, BC area) .The only question asked by dealer service manager was "are you still under warranty?" My response "yes, the optional FR second year warranty" - no problem.

Finally, success.

After several calls to Rhonda she finally got the form and check, dealer had it because they hadn't registered the sale yet, and they took another week to mail back and poor Rhonda must be covered up, but she called me and said it had been processed and I got my form back last Saturday. We're good for 2!
