But then some people keep their RV's for more then 2 years and like the convenience of a 5 year warranty. Stuff does go bad after 2 years. So yeah it is expensive but every extended warranty I have ever got paid for itself....

Really? You are extremely lucky. Clearly, most people do not have this experience. If they did, the companies would never make a profit and would go out of business (or stop offering them).
I'm not saying Extended Warranties are bad but I don't think you should expect them to pay for themselves. It's great when they do but statistically, they won't.

I just put $1800 in repairs into my camper this year (4yr old unit)... Just in time for me to trade it in ;(.... I think we put about $3000 in non-warranty service into our camper total. (BTW: It wasn't a Forest River unit)

I paid $1,700 for an extended warranty on an Open Range and will be trading it after 3 1/2 years so warranty goes to the trash as non-transferable to a dealer.
Never had a claim, so, it's entirely up to you as to how much money you loose.
This time I'm going FR extended and then Good Sam per an independent repair guy recommendation. He says all warranties won't want to pay much. Sort of like Obama Care. I lost my good health insurance to "progress".

I took the 2nd yr. FR at $150 and then purchased addit. 3 yrs. on the refrigerator and A/C directly from the manufacturers for a total of 5 yrs. on these 2 high ticket items.
I am accepting a known loss (the premium) against the uncertainty of an unknown large loss.

Our experience was about the same. Our dealer made zero mention of the extended warranty from Forest River. They did however push and push and push us to buy their extended warranty for $2795. haha No thanks.
I called forest river warranty, they emailed me the form and we sent it in. Piece of cake. And very nice people to deal with in the warranty dept.

Thank you to all of your post about the 2 year warranty. We were in the middle of finalizing our paperwork and I had this nagging gut instinct NOT to buy the extended contract. Ignoring my gut and going forth with the great Finance managers lead we said yes. It only made a difference in our payment by 13.00. (Ok I can do without a Starbucks).
The dealership we dealt with out sources their finance office as many of them do now, so we were able to disconnect the call and discuss what we really felt. This is when we let our fingers do the walking and found all of your suggestions in the Forum on the 2nd year for 150.00. Immediately I called FR and yes indeed we were able to have the paperwork emailed over and had it sent in the mail back to them in less that 30 min. I contacted the finance dept and he then recontracted our loan.
You may all know that after the 2 years is up you will ALWAYS have the options to purchase another one (aftermarket not a FR) when this run out.
Do not get caught up in this. Use your manufacture as much as possible and not a aftermarket.
Can't wait to use our new trailer

Congratulations on the new RV and getting the 2nd year warranty from FR. As Gljurczyk mentions above, best $150 you can spend.
Once you get all your paperwork you will see an offer directly from Dometic to extend the refrigerator warranty for an additional 3 years for a total of 5. A similar one is available for the A/C.

Just submitted my FR extended warranty paperwork this past week. I'll be on the lookout for the those other offers on the fridge and AC. Good to know.
