Yay! We did it!! We pick up our 2016 Forest River FR3 30 DS on Friday. First question! Best insurance? Ok to go with Geico or should we look at Good Sam? Thank you in advance for your advice! We are excited!!

Looking for insurance myself. Went with Good Sam 2 years ago when we purchased motorhome
They offered best rate so we switched to them. At end of first year they increased 10%. And now this year better than 40% We have no violations or claims. Nothing in our profile changed excepted we took good drivers classes for additional discount (ha ha). They said this is a general rate increase even with having GS Roadside Assist and GS Extended Warranty and...and... In thinking back to 2010 they did the same thing with our travel trailer. Low (relatively speaking) with their initial quote then proceeded to increase significantly over 2 years so we switched for 3 yrs with another company and then returned with the motorhome purchase due to their "lower rates". Seems almost like a bait and switch. You need to do you homework. The insurance company agents we are now speaking with did not believe this until we showed them billing and they ran our driving records to prove our statements. Good Luck

I researched online and then called my Independent agent. Since they're not tied to any one company, they'll find the best deal for you.

We went with Allied. A broker searched and presented us with 3 quotes. Allied had a good rate and the ratings seem good. We used pointers that we got from this forum and others. Our auto insurance is with Geico and Allied beat them by 400.00 per year and they present as more experienced with RV's. This will be a learning year for sure - in many ways. Keeping our fingers crossed!

Went with Progressive as they have my boat insurance...easy to deal with and paid over the phone, although we may join Good Sam for the travel/tow benefits, I've got tow with progressive but want more coverage
