You are right about the taxes and tree huggers. But when I see oil Co's making between 6 & 9 BILLION profit a quarter.

Makes me wish I had stock in them

The oil companies have been raping the consumers for decades and have been allowed to do it by the politicians. Until we get representatives who care about us and not just lining their pockets I fear this will continue. But all in all we are a lot better off than Europe (France =$8.29)

yea. Fuel prices suck. They pretty much always have and pretty much always will.
I don't the oil companies their profits and not just because I do have some of their stocks. Trust me the profits on those don't come close to paying for my fuel, but I do know that net profit has to be put in context with the total investment. Otherwise known as return on investment or ROI.
If you have many billions in investment/assets(and they do), you should expect billions in profit. According to my neighbor(he's in the bidness), profits are generally in the 7-9% range over the ups and downs.
Fuel prices do suck and always will, but, at least we're not trying to push down the road with wind or solar power.

If it helps any...shopping at Sears or Kmart's with a bonus point card, gives you a coupon for $.30 off per gallon at speedway if you spend $50..but then you still get more coupons for $10 off this or that. Good deals there right now.
