getting the most for the money

Hello everyone...We are about to take the plunge and buy a Palomino Stampede S21 RGS -- hybrid with 3 tipouts (the beds).
We love the open-ness and roomy feel.
Our past campers we have bought used from private sellers...this one is new from the dealer.
Should we pay their sticker? (17,600)
Do we haggle?
Can we get extras free before signing?
What are some other $$ saving tips before signing?
Thanks!!

We got a 30 foot 5th wheel new last year for 29,000
Get on the web and check prices. Our unit varied up to 8000 dollars

We just purchased a 2012 5er. After dealing with various dealerships and price shopping on the internet to get a feel for sales pricing, we were able to get our Stealth RG3210 (approx. $55K retail) for less than $41K. I would definitely not pay the MSRP. Try searching for the same unit on the internet and go to the dealer armed with others pricing.

Generally figure about 30% off of list is a decent price. Often RV Shows have attractive pricing and can be a good time/place to buy.

since you live in Illinois, you're close to RVW. but you don't mention the dealer you got your price from.
that price sounds higher than what i have seen from RVW and they do sell Palominos.

you order one, from the manufacturer, through the dealer.
you'll pay more to order one and less for one on the lot.

all your other questions are hard to answer, since you don't mention the dealer.
if it's RVW, then you won't have much haggle room.
RVW is the only "discount" dealer i know of that sells Palomino.
if you were looking at a Rockwood Roo, then you'd have a number of Roo dealers that would compete with the price.
is there a reason you haven't considered the Roo 233S? there are lots of happy 233S owners here and it is very similar to the 21RGS.
and you'll get a better price on it.

just so you know, the Shamrock and Roo brands are twins. no difference except outside decals and interior decor.

We just signed for a 2012 Sabre 5th wheel today, factory build because we wanted the thermopane window option. I brought along a quote from RVW with all the options we wanted and was pleasently surprized on how close the dealer came to meeting their price, within a couple hundred bucks. And I have a local dealer to do any warranty work if needed.

Their sticker price tag is their starting point. If you are willing to pay full asking price they are willing to accept it. This is just like buying a car.

We decided to hold off and make the repairs to our flagstaff 829bhs we own.

Just need to replace the 2 axles... (both bent..one worse than the other)

And only one of the 4 wheels seems to be braking when I apply the brakes.

It happened with previous owner. They had a blowout and traveled on 3 wheels for abit. I can visually see that the one axle is bent. Took it to camping world and they said both needed replacing... ill replace both while under there.....might as well.

There is totaly room to haggle. I recently made a post asking if others thought our dealer was screwing with us. It has tons of great info and recs from other members for someone looking to buy an RV. You can read it here http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...-me-20131.html
And FWIW, RV Wholesalers quoted us a lot more then what we paid from our dealer so they aren't always the cheapest.
