Good Sam Insurance

Our old insurance co Progressive just raised our Auto & RV policy rates 50%. I was looking at the Good Sam rv insurance policy. Anyone use them Pro & Con.Im talking about liability & collision not their emergency road service
Thanks all George

That is strange, because State Farm just lowered our auto and RV insurance without us even asking. I have no idea why!!

I left progressive in 2012 after a rate hike. The service was great when I had blowout damage twice but they just got to expensive. I went to GS which is actually National General INS co. Previously gmac? Rate was substantially lower.
I just had my rockwood damaged in early August while parked and the offender was not insured. NGIC is covering the claim $9996.82, and says they'll try to collect.
But, while the claim rep on the phone was very nice to work with, it took a month to get an adjuster out to do an estimate. My unit sat at my house for 2 weeks and at the repair shop 2 weeks waiting. I kept getting promises that the adjuster would call me but he still has not. It took repeated calls to ngic, management and supervisors to get some response.
I'm very disappointed and will shop new ins when this is settled. Progressive was done in 48 hours. I guess I got the cheaper service I paid for. Good luck in your search. I'd like to hear what you decide for my future decision.

I also use Good Sam for autos (2), tow truck and RV. They were the cheapest
that I could find for an RV policy. I had been warned not to just add the RV to an auto policy because of replacement cost for the first five years. Good Luck

We purchased a 2015 micro lite 2109s in December last year. We shopped around and progressive was the least expensive. After using the camper 2 times or more a month, we decided we wanted a bigger trailer. We traded in the 2109s for a hemisphere 272rlis and contacted progressive. Our insurance was going to be about $225 more a year. I contacted good sam and now have my insurance through them (national general ) and it came to $6 more a year then I was paying for smaller unit. Needless to say I am happy to go with them now. I hope I never need to find out how well/bad there claims dept is.

There is so much compassion with insurance companies. It doesn't pay to stay with the same insurance company for 30 years and get that birthday card every year.
I switch insurance companies every couple years.
Most insurance companies give you a cheap starting rate then it continues to go up every 6 months. And don't think your getting a good deal by combine all your car, house, Rv and motorcycle to get that discount. You are better off sourcing each vehicle at different insurance companies. I was paying $1100 a year for my house and switch with the same coverage from another big name insurance company for $450 a year.

Good Sam Insurance

I got out of National General when I discovered they were charging me a $15 fee for processing? handling? who knows what? every time they sent me a premium notice.

Be careful with the Good Sam (GS) storage option. Put the TT in storage yesterday and called GS. Looked at my policy next day and saw a $115 credit. So I called them today to update the address as to where it will be stored during the winter. Since the storage unit is in another zip code (35 miles from my home) they recalculated the premium and charged me another $110. I tried to understand their justification for the increase but the person I talked to didn't like where the conversation was going I guess and hung up on me. She said she needed to check her guidelines. I guess it read, "When in trouble and unable to provide an answer.....HANG UP". I tried their chat feature on line and the conversation was ended by them before I was done typing. Called them again and received a hang up before I even talked to someone. Called again and finally talked to someone who knew what they were talking about. So the increase is justified even though I don't agree with it. If I didn't provide the storage address and the TT was damaged while in storage, they wouldn't cover the claim since the storage address on record was my home address. Anyway, this episode got me thinking. If I was dismissed 3 times this morning by National General Insurance, how would I be treated with a claim? So I cancelled with them and went with Progressive through USAA. 3$ more per month for essentially the same coverage. I know. A claim with Progressive may be handled poorly too. For me it came down to how I was treated this morning by NGI.

Be carful with State Farm rv insurance I found out your rv is not covered if not hooked to TV. When my awening was ripped off and smashed by tree limb in storm it would not pay because it was not attached to TV in the campground. 1,000 dollar lesson.

You have to carry separate coverage on the rv itself to have it covered when it is not hooked to your vehicle.

We have a full replacement coverage policy through State Farm with a $250 deductible on our 2014 Crusader fifth wheel for $560 per year - well worth it but hope we never have a claim 😉

My State Farm agent did not offer anything more than what I had. I even asked at the time.

I got rid of State Farm after over 30 years with them. Like was previously said does not pay to be a loyal customer anymore.

RV Insurance

I shopped through Good Sam and received a quote from Allied Insurance which is a Nationwide company. Less than $300 a year for full coverage and better coverage than I had with GEICO. Covers my awning, and provides interrupted trip insurance. Pays actual replacement in the first 5 years and gives me what I paid originally after that. Had it over a year now. Haven't had to file a claim yet so can't speak to the customer service.

Well I have Foremost that I just got when I bought my new TT. If anything should happen to destroy it they will replace with like same unit within 5 years of purchase date no additional cost. Also all items are covered in the event of repairs are needed for other issues that may arise. Premium is less than GS Later RJD

We had Liberty Mutual until we bought our MH. Went with GS and saved enough bundling with RV, 2 autos and home to essentially get my homeowners for free compared to LM.

Just got our Progressive renewal notice. Up $100 from last year, last year was up $100 from the year before that. Calling my broker on Monday for new quotes, plus I will call USAA and Good Sam myself to see what they have to offer. Sheesh, my MH insurance is almost double our homeowners, at 1/2 the value.
