Great LED Bulb Replacements!!!

The 2015 season hasn't even begun and we're already hard at work readying the Foxx Land Ark for upcoming adventures. This is not only our first season as campers and owners of a travel trailer! One of our first projects was to replace all the incandescent bulbs in our coach... every single one of them (picture attached).

After my DH spent hours researching the seemingly endless variations of LED bulbs on the market and I spent hours reading bulb reviews, we decided on a 20-pack set of "Warm White T10 921 194 RV/Trailer 42 SMD 12V Back-up Reverse Light Bulbs" on eBay from seller LEDKINGDOM-US. Based in the United States, this seller has a 99.6% rating and more than 17,000 rated transactions. These bulbs are marginally brighter than the original 921 incandescent bulbs, but deliver the same warm white color as the bulbs they replaced. Each 921 bulb consumed 2.5 amps and each LED bulb consumers 0.25 amps with a much longer life span (we hope and expect) and a much cooler burning bulb.

Please look carefully at the 921 bulbs in the picture. Our coach is new to us, but it had a previous owner who bought it either when the 2014 model came out in 2013 or some time in 2014. Notice how many of the bulbs are darkened and some even have a reflective glint? This is due to the heat they put off in the fixture, some of which had begun to melt the fixture housing in which they were installed. Granted, a 2.5 amp bulb is not likely to start a fire by melting the fixture, but it's a cost none the less.

The best part of finding these great LEDs? We paid just $20.29 and the bulbs were shipped for free to our Illinois address, arriving on time as the auction stated. The auction continues for a little more than three hours from now (5:38PM CT, 02/20/15)... so don't delay. Ebay auction number
261485199274.

Love your user name and thanks for sharing this info. The bulbs look quite scary grin a great/fire safety perspective.

I too made a great find this week on LED's. I'm don't mean to hijack your thread but thought I would post this for those that don't use eBay but use Amazon.

Well I'm pleased with the new LED's I got.
These are the ones I bought - http://amzn.com/B00EDFM5QU

All pictures taken with the same settings.
f-stop - 3.5
Exposure/Shutter - 1/13
ISO - 1600
Focal Length - 18mm
No Flash

Here is the bedroom.
With the LED's it a little darker but still plenty of light.

Here is what I'm very pleased with. The main living area is a little brighter and has a lot less shadows.

Every Great Find is Worth Sharing

Thank you for posting another alternative. People love choices and when the options are accompanied by user reviews, it's even better.

I don't know. I put them on my wish list on amazon, but haven't ordered them yet. If/when I get them I will let you know.

Amazon.com: GRV T10 Wedge 921 194 25-3528 SMD LED Bulb lamp Super Bright Warm White DC 12V Pack of 10: Automotive

I have replaced all my 921s with these. Give off just a bit more light, and have the same warm white color. Not white or blueish like some others.

Great post! I thank you for taking the time to show FR members what happens between the different light sources. It's clear to see from the posters' pictures the slight drop off in light brightness when switching to LEDs. If going with the bright white color option that would put you closer to flourecent in color, than incandesent. Some say slightly harsher on the eyes. So, that becomes a matter of preference. The only way currently, to increase the brightness when switching out, is to buy LED's with larger SMDs on the board. Size 5630 will give you more light than the 5050s, but the wattage draw obviously goes up slightly.

I'll add something. Watch what led's you get.... Some are only rated to 13v max..... Go over that and you can burn them up. When I'm on shore power, gave the generator running or the solar panel is in high mode they charge the batteries at over 13v. So I made sure the ones I got can handle more volt, they will go up to 24v. I think that is enough.

I've done the LED change over on all lights, does anyone know what size would put out as much light as a 60 what regular household bulb. Just looking to get a couple of lights to put out real bright over our recliners so we can read easier.

Do you have cabinets above where you read?

For you that have converted to LED's, have you noticed any interference in OTA TV reception? This would be nice to know for some folks.
