Has anyone financed with RV Wholesalers?

Recently put a deposit down on a new TT with RV Wholesalers. I'm pre-approved for a loan through my bank (USAA) at 6.25%. I was wondering if it was likely that RVW could do better before I fill out their credit app. Anyone gone this route recently and care to comment?

I don't know your credit history or how much you're putting down but I would be surprised if they can't beat that rate. Plus, don't they give you a discount off the cost of the trailer if you finance with them? I thought they did, at least, they did a couple year's ago.

6.25% loan rate is very good on an RV

my bet is that you will have a very hard time
finding a better rate than that

I had the same decision last summer. I'm a member of two credit unions and they both beat the best deal RVW was offering for finance terms. I even told them what my local credit union was offering and they said they couldn't beat it.

I too just ordered a new trailer. I have been shopping around for rates and just from what I have seen I think 6.25 can be beat. The best rates I have seen are from credit unions. The one I'm going with is 2.75 percent for a 6 year term.

Now you'll have to fill out that app just to see who's right I think it could probably be beat it but just remember even if they beat it by a half of a percent you will be saving less than $4/month. Small changes to the interest rate do not really have a big impact on the monthly payment.

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like a bit of a crapshoot, in which case I may just stick with my bank for convenience sake.

rkswyo, where in the world did you find 2.75%? For that rate, I'm willing to do a little leg work!

Still trying to decide how much to finance. I'm getting a big tax refund, plus the in-laws are gifting us a nice chunk of change towards the trailer as well. That leaves me needing to finance about $3k, which almost doesn't seem worth it. Wondering if I should keep the tax refund, and finance the bulk of the trailer cost instead...

Warren Federal Credit Union out of Cheyenne, Wyoming. I was refered to them by my insurance company. I talked to them on the phone afeter seeing their rates. Also WYHY credit union out of Cheyenne has good rates right now. My trailer is 6 to 8 weeks out so I have a little time. Trying to save every penny I can between now and then for the down payment so I can finance as little as possible

I'd check with a credit union. They can get better rates than a bank. And dealers historically have the highest finance rates.

My camper is financed through USAA.
Very happy with rate and service.
It is also insured through them.

herk, you bring up a good point with the insurance. Hadn't thought about that yet! lol Is insurance on a new trailer pretty reasonable?

I found it quite reasonable; ask them for a quote.
Also do NOT forget to get the towing option.
Six month rates: Collision 60 bucks; comprehensive 44; and towing was 6 dollars more. Your experience may differ due to the normal factors.

I have towing on the truck and the camper. If the truck breaks down on the road; you may need the truck towed to the service station and the camper towed to the closest campground. USAA will pay for both tows.

Interest Rate

Just got 5.00% the day before yesterday on a new 2010 LaCrosse 303RKS, so there are rates lower than 6.25% out there. Pay 372.00 a year with State Farm for collision and comp. insurance with a $1000 deductible. Shop around.

I was just approved for 2.75 percent for 60 months with Warren FCU. Exactley what I was looking for and really nice folks to deal with.

Our previous camper was insured through USAA, however it was not a USAA insurance product. The phone call was pushed through to Foremost, good coverage, but quite pricey. That unit was also financed by USAA. Our new unit is financed through Bank of America at less than 5% and I'm no longer using Foremost/USAA as my RV insurer. I have been a USAA member since 1978 and wish they were still the same company.

I talked to RVW and they told me that in order to get the good price they quoted me, I'd have to finance through them. My credit score has been above 820 for a loooong time. I was able to get a loan for 60 months at 4.49 % at Bank of America. Not the best, but good enough since I will probably pay it off in a few months, anyway... when my daughter and son-in-law get my old TT from me. I shyed away from RVW since they had that string attached and since I found a decent deal on what I was wanting just 100 miles away.

We are considering taking our banking, and insurance business to USAA. I'm not there yet because I am still a bit uncomfortable with doing everything online.

We have done our banking and financial planning with USAA for almost 40 years now. Their insurance, advice and financial Management is first rate. I have no doubt that the ease of banking; saving; low rate auto loans; and friendly phone staff (available 24/7 and always a person you can understand) were the reason I was able to completely retire at 55 when my term of service to the Air Force ended. Only one other of my peers (that I am aware of) was able to do this and he also was a USAA member.

Online banking with USAA is safe and convenient.

PM me if you want particulars. I highly recommend them to anyone who is eligible for full membership. Their loan and credit card interest rates for full members ROCK. I was offered the ability to finance my 5th wheel camper for 10 years. Pretty much unheard of for a camper. They also refund all ATM fees from anywhere up to 4 withdrawals per month.

They do not advertise the fact, but their banking arm (only) is open to non-military folks (interest rates and credit products are not the same as those who qualify for membership though.)
