Holiday weekend gas prices

So we in the north just had a long weekend (first with nice weather) and true to form on thursday gas prices rose about ten cents a litre ( thirty eight cents a gallon) relatively normal here.
Does this happen on your long weekend holidays in the US?

Yep, rose up to 4.06 a gal in Nebraska. Some BS about refineries shutting down. I'd like to know who schedules these shutdowns and hang them up by the .....

I saw the price drop at several stations around here today. Maybe someone will realize what these high prices are doing to the economy.

Are you natives of Williston or did you come there with the oil boom?

Read occasional stories about the oil boom there.

They usually jack it up 2 weeks prior and then start lowering it 4 days before the weekend! it was $4.25 a gallon on Sun. and today it is at $4.09 a gallon. it will probably be around $4 by fri.

Regular unleaded dropped a couple of cents here today to $3.17. Diesel has been pretty steady the last few weeks at $3.39. We will probably go ahead and fill our auxilliary tank for our trip next week before it's skyrockets for the holiday.

Ours just went up again yesterday $5.23 a gallon and that is for a US gallon not imperial. All the gas price indicators are calling for prices dropping but yet here in Saskatchewan where we have bag loads of oil and our own CO OP refinery 40 miles from here get our prices jacked.

4.69 here (Chicago) 60 miles west I paid 3.89. Chicago has the highest gas prices in the U.S. from what I hear.

$3.79 a gallon in Western New York. Filled up the GT last Friday night for $3.66. It amazes me the spin put on gas prices every holiday, same stories re-hashed, almost seems on rotation. The news media helps put the spin out there because they just "read" the BS handed to them by the oil industry and they report it as if its news!

I imagine you both have seen many changes there since the boom started.

I saw the start of the oil boom in Midland-Odessa Texas in the 1980's and I saw the oil bust later there also. When the boom started, immigrant workers were living in cardboard boxes under the overpasses because there no housing for them and when the boom busted they were back there again trying to hitch a ride back to Detroit.

I think that U-Haul placed a surcharge on their trucks that destined for Midland -Odessa because there were so many there it drained the system of available trucks for the rest of the country.

Well the oil boom is back in west Texas. There is an estimated 80000 extra people in the Four or five counties around our home town. Anyone with about 5 acres of land have put in a RV park. Having to build new schools and this boom is expected to last another 5 to 10 years.
