Sometimes we have higher prices than the valley (Waynesboro), and like now they sometimes have higher prices than us.......go figure.

A lot has to do with the low fuel tax in Virginia. It is an average of $.10 per gallon cheaper than the surrounding states. But that cheaper fuel tax shows in our road building and maintenance expenditures. Now the powers that be have done away with the gas fuel tax (diesel tax stays), put on a wholesale gas tax, and increased our state sales tax to raise roads funds.

Unleaded regular just jumped from 3.969 to 4.259 in Middlebury yesterday.

WARNING TO DIESEL OWNERS: If you buy diesel in Indiana, the pump price that you see will have a price, and then in VERY small letters it will say something like "Exempt" or "Exempt Trucks." There is a tax of approximately 25 cents per gallon that will be added on to your cost if you don't have a DOT Tax-Exempt number. Fuel posted as $4.00 will actually cost you about $4.25.

On a recent trip to FL we discovered that mom/pop grocery stores
and quickie marts had 20-30¢ cheaper diesel than the truck stops on
the interstate.
I'm guessing the difference is road tax aimed at truckers.
We quickly learned to fill up at the little guys when ever possible.

F.R.O.G can the Forest River Owners Group be classed as a Social Club?

Groups eligible for tax-exempt status usually include charitable organizations, churches, social clubs, and employee benefit associations, among others.

I filled up with zero ethanol gas today....$3.45. My Jeep Wrangler gets much better mileage with non ethanol...so the price difference is worth it.
