Is this a good buy.

New 2015 Flagstaff 8528RKWS, diamond package, no lot rot. Dual 15000btu AC units, 50amp service, full manufacture warranty, not a show model, no issues at delivery, dealer inspected and serviced roof as part of prep. 30 amp dog bone and starter kit included. 40 inch LED TV in living area, 26 in LED in BR, new Reese 16k hitch installed. 31k + TTL. I researched and think this was a good buy. Am I right?

It's two model years old already....A quick NADA shows with the options you said it had, Average Retail for a used one is $30,215. I would say no it's not. If you drive it off the lot and a tree lands on it, you're going to lose your butt.

Not overly familiar with that model but a quick search shows it to be around 29-30k in my area then there is some haggling from there on price. I would say that is not a great deal but if you like it and are happy with it, that is all that really matters right?

But if the hitch is worth $1K, you're buying a NEW unit, with a factory warranty for the retail book value of a used one...

If the OP plans to keep this for the long term, that's not a bad deal, assuming its less than a new '16 or '17. 5-7 years from now, the resale value will be a lot more about condition than model year. If short term trade-in value is a concern then starting 2 model years older could be an issue.

It doesn't matter if it's a new unit or a used unit if it is totaled. Insurance companies are to make you "Whole" again....and if he buys a 15 and it gets totaled, they will replace it with a 15, even though it was new off of a dealers lot. The Resale values has almost NOTHING to do about condition (Unless it's BAD). When I traded in my 2011, they never even looked at it! It's all based off of what the book tells them...that's what they're going to give you. As others have posted, there are 16's for under that 31K price as well.

You got the hitch installed along with warranties and that puts you at a good buy, not a great buy. If the floor plan is what you and you keep it 3- 4 years or more you should be fine. For now, be happy and enjoy as that is all that counts.

I just went onto the NADA guide and put in the info that you provided and a few options that are basically standard on these Flagstaffs (which are similar to Rockwells) and came out with a totally different figure. I have enclosed the link on the NADA figures that I got. 2015 Flagstaff Classic Super Lite Fifth Wheel Series M-8528RKWS Prices and Used Values | NADAguides

Suggested list is $38+, low retail is $33+ and high retail is $40+. If you were going for just the fiver with absolutely nothing in it, i.e. no microwave, no slides, no TV, no AM/FM/CD, no fridge, no hot water heater, no electric front and rear jacks, etc. then the list is the same, low retail is $22+ and high retail is $27+.

Is it a good value? Well that is for you to decide. Always ask the dealer my seven favourite words before you decide "is that the best you can do?". Maybe, just maybe, he will come down just a bit more.
