I know for a fact it was listed in my '11 Duramax manual and may have only been available in 2 different configurations. (cab and/or 2wd/4wd). I will check in my '13 manual in morning, too cold outside now!

Yeah the manuals usually wont specify whether an option is forced or not ( like the allison is forced with the duramax option as is gearing from what ive seen) or sometimes whether its available for a certain configuration. I think its mainly a rpm issue.

On subject I get 18 mpg with stock size tires unloaded, about 15-16 mpg with my 34.5" tires.
Towing about 9.8-12.5mpg regardless of tires, more on hills and amount of weight.
This is on a 4wd duramax.

Op your numbers are typical.

I have an '11 Duramax with the 3:73 rear end. I pull a 10K 5ver. I get an average of 10 to 10.5 at between 60 and 65 mph. The speed puts me in the heart of my torque power band. I get between 18 and 18.5 empty at 80 mph.
My buddy has a Dodge with a Cummings and I have always gotten better MPG than him. IMHO , I think you're doing fine. You might do a little better if you find where you peak torque is on your power band and just set your cruise there.

My MPG on my Diesel 6.7 mega cab has been slowly increasing as I add more miles. We have crossed over 50K now and recently got 13.2 on a 3200 mile trip from Ca to Mt and back pulling our Cardinal 5er. On trips where we just pull the rig and do little unhooked driving we are in the 12's and I have a lead foot. But if we hit a head wind like we did crossing the Tehachapi's we were at 9.2 MPG and hoping to make the next gas station!

My stock 2013 2500HD with a 6.6 Duramax averages 10-11 around town and 18-19 Hwy. Towing it averages 10-13. All of the towing has been short trips mixed city and hwy. with some long hills.

I used to have 1992 Chevy crew cab dually with a 454. It averaged around 7-9 mpg. City. Hwy. Uphill, down hill, loaded, unloaded.

Yes on the Cummings and Dodge with the Allison transmission. It has been problem free for us so far.

Hello. Not to be crappy... Please correct that to "Cummins".

Ps: my ole 5.9L6 has 4:10 gears and tachs 2450 at 75 MPH. I don't normally drive that because of.
