My insurance company.....

...is asking me for the model number of our camper. So, I looked inside the kitchen cabinet and the door sticker says that the model number is WFD21RK.

We submitted that information, but the agent said that that is not the number that they need.

It should begin with an "M", like, M1217, or something like that. "M" Series...

I cannot find a number like that. But....I also cannot read the sticker on the front lower roadside corner. It's faded out. Maybe that's where the number is located?

It is now Friday, and I just tried calling Forest River. It was 4:58 when I called, but they close at 5:00 and the recording stated that they are closed.

Any other suggestions as to what this number could be? Or how to obtain it?

Here's our camper...(some of you may recognize this...)

Thank you.

OP's trailer may not have that sticker. I don't know when manufacturers started putting those on TT's but our 98 Wilderness didn't have it. They should be able to do a VIN search or call Wildwood with the VIN.

Hope this helps. I did a Bing search with your model info. Found this site:
https://www.nadaguides.com/RVs/1999/...y-Forest-River

Based on your saying you have a 5ver, your model could be: M-21RK LT

That outside sticker has completely faded. Unreadable.

Also look on your title or latest tag receipt (tag receipt may vary by state - mine has the correct model on mine in GA). It should be there and in a format the insurance company will expect to match their records.

Seeing that the value is at about $5K, I'll probably just drop the insurance.

My auto insurance covers liability for the camper...

Your auto insurance will only cover it while it is connected to your car/truck- you will have no coverage the second you disconnect it. You want it listed on a policy for liability. Home owners will cover it at your home- but when off property- no coverage.

I get that. What I'm saying is that because the camper is only valued at $5K, it may not be worth insuring.

It's like having comprehensive insurance on a $5K vehicle, instead of just liability.

That being said... to me, it's worth way more than $5k, because of all the work that I have into it.

So.....??......

I think Dave-G is referring to your liability if someone is injured in your trailer while it is parked. Your automotive and homeowners policies might not cover that situation.

It's just down right weird how insurance does, or doesn't, work in some cases... Ask your agent to see how your coverage would apply.

I guess I'd better not let anyone borrow my bicycle, then....just in case.......
