New Windjammer 3029W

Just purchased a 2016 FR Windjammer 3029W RV with the Platinum package from RV Wholesalers. Price was so much lower than any NC dealer it was an easy decision. Even got it lower that a 2014 used Windjammer 3025 I looked at last week. Family is in Ohio so will do some camping there once we pick it up in a couple of weeks.

Dealership has several recommendations for add ons. 2 of which i am considering
1. Slide out awnings (3 needed - $489 each)
2. RainKap ($299)

After reading some of the threads (must be a 1,000) on the slide toppers i have decided to sleep on it. Not much info on the RainKap so would love to hear opinions.

If you have done the walkthrough with RV Wholesaler and have any tips I am all ears. This is our 3rd RV so have experience but not with this dealer.

Tow vehicle is a 2004 Suburban 2500 with the big 8.1L gas engine.

We have been contemplating the slide out awnings for our unit, but have had zero leaks and we have been in a flash flood type rain. We are kind of waiting to see if it has issues as it gets older. Our dealer didn't offer the awnings or to add a RainKap, in fact I have not heard of a RainKap before. Welcome to the Windjammer community!

Welcome from NE Fla. Highly recommend the slide awnings; they keep leaves & other debris off of slide out. Without awnings you will need to sweep the debris off before retracting slides. Can't help with the RainKap. Whatever you decide enjoy, be safe & have fun.

Slide Toppers YES, Rain Cap-When they say Caulk the entire Top that changed it to NO,Does the New W/J come with (MaxAir vent covers? if not that would also be a YES for Install! Youroo!!

Thanks for the feedback. Decided to hold off on the slide toppers until we use camper for a while and save up a some more $. No go on the RainKap and like the MaxAir suggestion but since RV did not have fans (just vents) decided to go with the MaxxAir MaxxFan with the remote - one in bedroom and one in living room. Read through many of the PDI posts and downloaded several checklists.


Appreciate the suggestions.

We ordered ours from FR with both slide toppers for about 500/pr. An extra fantastic fan in the living area and minimum carpet. Glad we did

Yes, most definitely to the slide toppers.
No, to the Rain Cap.

Most rv's have a rain gutter that channels water off the roof and drains from the gutter via a downspout. Sometimes these downspouts are not long enough to keep the water away from the sides and this causes the black streaks. The gutter can also, depending on the length of the camper, have a seam where the gutter joins. This can leak also. And too, the gutter can get clogged with leaves and debris and can overflow the gutter. You can get longer downspouts or make your own by using a plastic milk jug handle. I took the simple approach and put clothes pins on the downspouts.

I personally have never seen a RainCap so I can't say yes/no on it's claims to be effective.
