Question Newbie question about having the dealer install a fan on a new MH

We just ordered a Forester 2401W, MBS. This is our first MH, until this point we have been tent campers.

The Forester comes with a Fantastic Fan in the sleeping area. I asked the dealer to have the factory add an additional fan in the living area. According to the dealer the added fan would be installed by the dealers service group. I'm not sure how I feel about the service group messing with my new roof.

Am I being silly?

I installed my own, it really isn't a big deal.

Seems odd that on a (Ordered Unit) the install would be made (After) by the Dealer! You talk about (Messing with the Roof) is there (NO Vent) in the location where this Fan install is located? If vent is present simple install, but still Odd the Factory is not doing it! Youroo!!

If what you have in the living area is just a crank open vent, the area is probably 99.99% pre wired for a powered fan. If you remove the inside plastic trim, you'll find two wires tucked up under the trim.
You can buy a standard Fantastic Fan on Amazon for under $150.00.
Some butyl tape and a tube of Dicor Self Leveling Caulk, and your all set.
If you are at all handy, it's a very easy install, and will save you a pocket full of cash. If not, then at least you know that the fan and install materials can be had for under $175.00.

X2

I installed mine in the bedroom and wasn't hard at all. Installed the Ultra Breeze vent cover at the same time..

There's several YouTube installation videos out there too.

Ditto everyone else. It's just going to replace the vent that's already there. I would even trust CW to get that installed correctly......maybe.

Will doing the install yourself void the warranty on the roof?

No... unless your installation is the cause of the defect. Magnuson Moss Warranty Act

i.e. I wouldn't expect warranty coverage if the roof started to leak around the fan because I didn't apply the Dicor properly.

It would be covered if the defect wasn't the result of your modification.
