Home equity loan - tax deductible. Insurance - get 3 or 4 quotes.

And get a insurance quote for your autos and the RV together from Good Sam (GMAC).

A camper qualifies as a vacation home and the interest is already deductible provided you itemize.

Also no risk of losing your home if you default on the camper payments like you would if you defaulted on your home equity loan.

Sometimes if you have a lemon of a camper you might just want the loan company to "come get it;" try that with your home equity loan.

Talk to your tax dude.

Credit unions are the way to go. If you aren't a member, become one. Our loan rate on our fiver is 3.6%, much lower than any bank could get for us. As herk said, camper loans qualify as being tax deductible.

x2 credit union....if we have to finance anything, its ALWAYS the cheapest there.....provided you have a decent credit score....

x3 the interest is tax deduct as long as you have a kitchen in it! (or if you own a business there are a lot of other possibilites!)

as far as insurance you just have to get some quotes....generally its cheaper when you group your home/auto/rv/boat/motorcycle all on one policy....but we have friends who got better deals elsewhere (good sam, progressive. etc...)

X3 on credit unions. I shopped 4 different ones locally and came up with a great rate and very nice folks to work with. You just have to shop the insurance.

x4 on the credit unions. We got 2.9 on our fiver. Not to mention the other programs and entertainment discount tickets you can get.
For the insurance, not much I can tell you there. We had our camper, harley, house, 3 vehicles with Shelter for the longest time. Switched about 3 years ago to State Farm and got cheaper quotes and a better agent, except for our Harley and RV. State Farm was double but moved the RV anyway but kept the Harley at Shelter. ($300 cheaper!)Since we haven't had any claims we were told our policies are due to change from the fire and accidental division to the mutual division and will be much cheaper. Our Harley insurance is due this month and guess what!! It is a lot cheaper than Shelter. Now all of our policies are with State Farm.
