Welcome to the forum!

We have a 2010 Rockwood 8280 WS...camped 29 nights in it so far this year. Really like it and haven't had any issues with it at all.

You should have minimal quality issues. In the FRF gallery I have pics of my 8280 SS (no wardrobe slide) which I prefer over the 8280WS. Lighter pin and I like the bathroom better. You can still get the 8280SS but it has to be ordered special.

The kitchen and spacious living areas are the same and you are going to love both.

Be advised you can't get into the 'fridge or the pantry with the slide in. That's important to some. We just plan ahead and pack lunch in a small cooler. Also, check to make sure none of the pantry or entertainment center doors have opened before extending the slide.

You're really going to like that trailer!

Cool Rockwood 8280

I think the 8280 will fit my needs the best. The light weight and the lay out seems nice. Someone told me today that rear kitchens bounce all the plates and stuff around is this true. I think that I can live with that any feed back. Not knowing to much about 5th wheels is it posible to slide the slide out and get to the kitchen if needed.

We've had two campers with the rear kitchen and haven't broke anything yet...just have to pack it properly. We usually put our extra pillows in the cupboards with the dinnerware and glasses to keep them from moving around.

We put the slide part way out to get to the frig if necessary...not a big deal.

I have not noticed any appreciable rearrangement of dishes and such in our rear kitchen. We keep the dishes in the overhead cabinet that is closest to the axle, the one that's over the sink. The stuff in the pantry and rear cabinets stay put pretty well using that anti-slip shelf liner stuff.

Now you can just squeeze into the kitchen with the slide in, but you can not get into the 'fridge or the pantry with the slide pulled in.

Also if you use the counter-top extension it makes the kitchen drawers hard to reach. We knew all about the slider/pantry conflict and the counter extension/drawer issues, and we bought it any way. Have absolutely no regrets.

Hello everyone,
I am new here, this is my first post
WE have never owned an RV. We want to be able to travel with our dogs (two toy poodles) We live in FL and both took an early retirement so time off is not a problem
My husband and I are looking at the 5th wheel Rockwood 8280. I have only seen it in pictures and am still trying to find one to look at in person.
The price seems very reasonable (considering we were looking at the Cedar Creek before this that was double in price)
We have a Ford F350 Diesel so the towing should not be a problem??
Any tips for a first timer?
I am looking at the dark wood cabinets / Saddle interior and def the LazyBoy leather chairs!

We picked our 8286ws up on Aug 14th. We have only camped once in it so far and we love it. We mainly bought it for the outside kitchen. We were always packing a cooler or extra refrig with us so the extra refrig is going to come in handy. The wardrobe is nice also. It has plenty of room in it. We ordered it with the king u dinette and hide a bed air mattress. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Not sure what the lead time is now for the Rockwoods, but It took us 10 weeks to get ours.

Hope you're planning to tow with a 3/4 ton tow vehicle...that camper will be a lot of hitch weight in addition to the motorcycle in the truck bed.

Cool

Well from what I can figure out and that isnt easy the hitch weight on a 8317 is 912. The unloaded weight is 6270. I have a 2500 HD with 6.0 gas and 410 rear end. I am trying to stay lite on the trailer but still want a nice unit. Any help would be great trying to figure it all out weight wise and what i can pull safely.

You will be OK with the 8286WS for sure. I have the exact same tow vehicle as you and it does a great job of handling the 5er. I can also tell you that the empty weight will come in heavier than what is posted on the website. Ours was rated at 7330 and when we got it it weighed 7967.
We added another 800lbs with our camping junk and the propane. My pin weight is around 1750 pounds.

We just bought our first camper, which happens to be the 8280ws and have had it out several times this summer already. I picked it up from the Dealer at the end of July! We love it! Have not had any problems with dishes bouncing around. I bought some racks from wal-mart to store plates and pots and pans in, and everything pretty much stays put! We love this camper. I was considering the 8265 over the 8280 but we love the two recliners. He had to have the upgraded leather recliners and let me tell you, they are so worth it!
Lori- I believe they are not making the saddle interior anymore. Just might want to check on that, but I'm sure you can find one somewhere that already has one.
