Actually, Good Sam is a good deal (we are life members
Their member services, RV insurance and other perks make the membership pay for itself. Also, getting their Flying J/Pilot Gas Credit card will save you 6 cents/gal at the pump!
RE: Costco. Here is the way we do it. We are Executive members ($110 a year). We also got the COSTCO AmEx Card which gives you 3% cash back on gas and 1% on just about anything else. (BTW, Sams club does the same with a MasterCard), so we have amembership there too.)
We use our cards and, of course, pay them off every month (that is the secret THEY don't want you doing
Guess what? At the end of the year we not only have enough "rebate dollers" from both cards to pay for another year's membership, but we usually havd $75-$100 in addition cash back in our pocket!
YMMV of course
