Sandpiper vs sabre

Wasn't too sure where to put this. We went to the rv show today looking to see the sabres. We also stumbled across some really nice sandpipers. Long story short we came away with 4 fivers in mind. 2 sabres and 2 sandpipers. We really liked each one for different reasons. They were the Sabre 34reqs-6 and the sabre 33rets or the sandpiper 330RL or the 366FL. We didn't see but like the floor plans for 346RET and 355RE. We currently tow with a f250 with the 6.4L PSD. We will upgrade to a 1 ton SRW (can't swing a dually for a daily driver) if need be (will probably need to for most of these).

My questions are, if you have one of these do you love it, what kind of problems have you had with it and how were the problems handled by dealership and/or manufacturer? Also what are your loaded weights (both trailer weight and pin weight) as this will help us with truck choices. Also is the second year warranty an option on both the sabre and the sandpiper? Thank you for your help.

We have the 34REQS-6 and love it. Only problems were dealer replaced a broken day/night shade (string broke), and kitchen faucet handle was loose so dealer got us a whole new faucet. We're on a seasonal site so can't comment on your questions about towing/weights. 2nd year warranty for the Sabre is $150 and IIRC $250 for the Sandpiper.

Good luck with your decision.

We traded for a Sandpiper 356RL in September 2012 (the floor plan is very similar to our previous unit which was a Crossroads Cruiser 335ss) and have not had any problems at all with it so far with 37 nights camping and about 5,000 miles towing. We are very satisfied with this unit.

Have not been able to get the rig weighed yet, but I am pretty sure we are at max pin weight for the Dodge. Having said that, this trailer actually tows better and I get better mileage than towing the Cruiser. There is no problem with acceleration, hill climbing or braking. Towing at 65MPH, 1700 RPM, 12MPG; I'm happy with that.

We have a 2012 Sabre 34RLQS and 1997 F250 Powerstroke. We really love the Sabre, I think they have the best floor plans and are simply a lot of trailer for the money. Actually tows better that our old Carri lite. We have spent about 40 nights in it so far and have had zero problems other than the usual small ad1ustments, etc that I took care of myself.

We have the Sierra 366FL. No mechanical problems and have towed over 3600 miles. Our last unit was a Sabre and loved that trailer. You will be very happy with either brand.

Our Sabre was not one of the floor plan tat you are looking at so I can not help with tha part of the Sabre. The 366FL is a great floor plan. With that said, that basement storage is very small.

Good luck on your purchase.
